Description
The Line 6 Catalyst 60 is a revolutionary combo amplifier offering a fusion of analog and digital technology. With six original amp models crafted using HX sound design, the Catalyst 60 delivers exceptional tone and feel. Perfect for practice, recording and small venues, this study little amp features an XLR line output, USB interface, reverb, effects and more.
Authentic Tube Amp Tones and Feel
The Catalyst 60 provides six amp models ranging from sparkling clean to high-gain overdrive, each carefully crafted to emulate the warmth and nuance of tube amps. An all-analog signal path and HX sound design techniques ensure the responsive, dynamic feel of real tube amps.
Built-In Effects and Digital Processing
In addition to pristine amp tones, the Catalyst 60 offers six types each of reverb, delay, modulation and distortion effects. An effects loop allows patching in external pedals. For recording, the four-channel USB interface provides high-quality direct signal as well as emulated amp tones. MIDI capabilities allow for advanced control and switching of amp models, effects and more using external MIDI controllers.
Play at Any Volume with Power Attenuation
The Catalyst 60 features a power attenuator, allowing you to crank the amp for full tube saturation at lower volumes. Whether practicing at home or performing on stage, you can achieve your ideal tone at the perfect level for any situation.
A Versatile Amp for Practice, Recording and Gigging
With a lightweight, portable design, the Line 6 Catalyst 60 serves as an ideal practice amp but also excels for recording direct or miking in the studio. For live performance, the 60-watt Catalyst 60 provides plenty of power for small to mid-sized venues while the XLR line out allows running a signal direct to front-of-house. The Catalyst 60 offers an all-in-one solution for guitarists seeking authentic tube tone, effects and recording capability in a single amp.

Versatile modeler amp, easy to use with manual channel.
This amp is versatile and easy to use stand-alone. It has a great selection of amp models built-in, along with enough effect and delays so that you can find something that you like fairly quickly. I like the clean and boutique models with some reverb. Then I played around with the other models, adjusting settings and effects. You can adjust everything on the amp, not necessary to connect a computer. I did find it confusing initially due to all the different methods required, i.e. "press a button", "press and hold", "press for 2 seconds", etc. That's why I read the manual a few times! Line6 puts a nice 2-sided "cheat sheet" on top of the amp around the carrying handle which is a lot easier than flipping through small pieces of paper staring at small font printing. So don't remove the amp-topper sheet and toss it in the box with the rest of the packing material :-). The best feature of the Catalyst amp is the manual channel. This is WYSIWYG. Adjust the knobs and controls just like a "regular"amp. You can then save the settings once you get something you like. In the future I will connect the amp to the computer and see what else you can do. Right now I am quite happy with the Catalyst amp and I highly recommend it. Go get one!

Not good for anything
If you play fast or need good note separation, this is not the amp for you. Get a little tube amp instead. Taking mine back right now. Flubby Muddy Drone sound. General sound reproduction is awful. Effects are kind of cool. I wanted a portable light amp for writing music with friends and to spare the wear and tear on my tube amp. I'll probably go with a Marshall DSL5 or something like that instead and continue using a pedal board. I wouldn't Recommend it even for a beginner, you're not going to be able to have the clarity you need to develop basic skills. I'm playing through this with a strandberg Boden 7. Active Fishman's. Some of the clearest pickups on the market. Pure Mud on this amp.

I've been playing off and on for about 45 years, always as an amateur, but always vying for good tone. I was looking to morph the gear I had to smaller, lighter, but still great sounding gear, and I'd hoped for more of that from this amp. It does seem convenient, lightweight and has some good crunch to it, but the clean sounds were just kind of thin, and so regretfully, it is being returned.

Was looking for a reasonably priced amp with a good variety of tones and xlr line out. Tried the Katana and Fender GTX but didn't like either. Was skeptical about the Catalyst. Once I plugged it in I was pleasantly surprised. Great tone, easy to use, great app and good presets.
