Mine came perfectly set up with nice tonal resonance characteristics, zero buzz, black as black ebony fingerboard...the pick ups are good figuring they have to cover so many octaves. I play clean mostly. I put in a 5 way super switch and rewired it for more tone options and drilled a hole and put in a tone knob. I just do that stuff for fun...it did not need it. I like how it comes with the battery slot on the back pre cut so if I decide to switch to active which I might someday especially as the tech continues to get better, it will be a easy switch. I really like having 9 strings.

Solid guitar, just needed the usual truss adjustments and basic setup. Only flaw I could point out is that fret ends are sprouted out the edges of the fretboard. Easy fix with the right tools and probably a result of buying in the winter and dry fretboard. Pikcups sound great for modern styles; palm mutes are tight and chords are clear. Probably a bit lower output than I'm used to, but the pickups' character and voicing makes up for it.

...it's amazing how much tweaking and upgrades I had to do to such a renowned brand just to make it playable. Out of the box had terrible action, tons of buzz even on the fifth and sixth strings. Was delivered with used/old strings. "Ebony" fretboard had a huge maple-colored diagonal streak through a mostly ebony-colored neck (even though it was a very weak-colored ebony). I mean, with words like "ninja" and "stealth" in the title and the stock photos you'd think the guitar would have a very dark profile but no, it was all over the place in visual tonality. Once I put new strings on and and completely revamped the bridge it actually sounded good. Oh, also the headstock has a weird aberration in the paint job where the finish flattens and a dime-sized blemish shows in high-lighting. What a chop-job lol.
