collapse expand iconDescription

The Lava Retro Coil 20-Foot Silent cable uses a 99.99% OFC low strand count copper conductor and superior shielding. This cable was designed by Lava Cable to provide world-class sonic performance and low noise using G&H Silent plugs that also let you plug in without pops or buzzes.

Lava's Retro Coil cable delivers great sound but it offers a utilitarian advantage as well. The coiling makes for no more hassles when bundling and removes the need to worry about getting caught up in messy cords on stage.

Completely made in the USA.

  • Good quality cable, but silent connector is finicky.

The cable is well built, but I find the silent connector a bit difficult to get locked in on my bass and guitar. Without running the cable through your strap, to hold it in place, the weight of it will cause it to pop out of your instrument jack, which then makes the silent connector trigger and you'll lose connection. So for practicing when I'm sitting and not using the strap, it can be a headache as any slight movement makes the cable pop out.

I play out twice a week, practice at home more than that... I have never had one issue with my Retrocoil. I have owned mine for years and it's still going! I do take pretty good care of my stuff though. Works great with my Strat, Gretsch, Les Paul, Ibanez and my bass. Not so great with my 72 Tele but I just reverse the cable using the strait end in the guitar and it's fine. Does defeat the purpose of the no pop plug end but I'm good with it. I have dealt with Lava cable directly several times and had good experiences. Ordering derectly patch cable kits, as well as other cables. They have always corresponded and answered my questions. Some of my purchases were delayed but they communicated well and I received my product.

I decided it was time I invest in a 'high quality' cable so I bought this. It worked good but playing about 3 times a week seemed to much for this cable. It died in about a year. I tried to contact the manufacturer 9 times to replace this cable. There seems to be no customer service just one guy, he did not want to replace my cable and made it very clear. I tried to contact him over the course of no less than 3 months. Eventually he said he was going to go right to the mail box and send the cable. It never arrived. I will never buy from this company again and I would not recommend this company to anyone.
