This is my sixth Ukulele. Of the five before, two of them were more expensive, two were over $100.00 less and the other was less than half the cost of the Lanikai ZR-CET. Of the bunch, this is probably the most striking and beautiful. As to overall sound and performance, I struggle to put this in the middle of that pack. In fact, I've got a $160.00 Orangewood Harper Tenor that has better action and (to my ear) greater overall feel and at least as good overall sound. This is disappointing because the Lanikai ZR-CET is SO beautiful. I really wanted to love this, and for the fact I layed out just under $400.00, should have been very happy ... but I'm left flat. I'm not giving up on this, I know Lanikai is a great name with a rich tradition of fine instruments ... and that there is an army of happy owners out there, so maybe I'm overlooking something simple. I'm going to slap in a Low G and restring the rest with premium fluorocarbons. I bet that will make a difference. I'll update and upgrade this review if it does ... and I REALLY hope it does.
