This 27 bell kit is a pleasure to use. I've tried my soft and medium vibraphone mallets and they work well except for the smallest bars on the right which don't get hit hard enough for a good sound. The small hard plastic mallets are the best because they require almost no effort to get excellent results. There is some problem with unwanted resonance caused by striking the bar too hard, so you need to get the feel for the right striking force. I would trade the high keys on the right for additional lower notes on the left, but that didn't seem to be an option. It's a nice combination the way it is and I like everything contained in the hard case. I'm just a casual player and this self-contained bell set just sounds nice to play for NO reason at all, but potentially I might use it to mix in with other recordings I've made using loops or layers.
