Overview

In 1922, mandolin designs began to change, as did the musical tastes of the time. The greatest Acoustic Engineer of the day began to develop designs that incorporated F-shaped sound holes instead of the Oval-hole designs that ultimately tightened-up the airy, woody nature of the traditional A-shape, and accentuated the treble frequencies often lacking in previous designs. All combined, these instruments offered the musician better balance and greater volume to meet the ever-changing musical styles to come. The Kentucky KM-252 Artist A-model Mandolin offers a professional quality instrument that is still affordably priced. All materials are hand-carved, with the tops and backs meticulously arched and graduated to achieve the correct balance of strength and lightweight rigidity for optimal tone. So, for the best value out there in a professional-quality A-style mandolin, make America's Favorite mandolin your choice!

Worth the wait

Comments about Kentucky KM-252 Artist A-Model Mandolin:

I ordered this mandolin from Guitar Center online as present for my wife and had to wait a couple weeks after Christmas to get it. It appears Kentucky is having a hard time keeping up with demand. The repair guys at the local Guitar Center set it up while I waited in the store. After about 1/2 an hour of looking at various other guitar related gear that I was interested in, I heard someone in the store playing a mandolin. It sounded great. It took me a few seconds to realize that the sound was coming from the repair shop. As I approached the repair shop I could hear the two guitar techs talking to each other about how great it sounded. I think you would have to spend a lot more money to find something that sounds better.
