Description

The Kawai MP11SE professional stage piano brings the magnificent tone and feel of a handcrafted grand piano to your performances and practice sessions. This 88-key stage piano showcases Kawai's renowned Grand Feel wooden-key keyboard action—the same pivoting wooden keys found on their premium acoustic grand pianos. From its authentic grand piano sound and responsive touch to its powerful amplification and comprehensive functionality, the MP11SE delivers an inspiring playing experience for discerning pianists.

Wooden-Key Grand Feel Action Immerses You in Acoustic Realism
The key to the MP11SE's lifelike grand piano experience lies in its exceptional Grand Feel wooden-key keyboard action. Just like a Kawai acoustic grand, the MP11SE's black and white keys are crafted from long pieces of wood, pivoting on a central balance pin to recreate the natural seesaw-like motion of an acoustic piano. The pivot point matches the keystick length of Kawai's grand pianos, with graded hammers that capture the heavier bass and lighter treble response. You even feel the subtle "let-off" sensation when playing softly, thanks to the precise triple-sensor key detection system.

Stunning Acoustic Grand Tone From Kawai's Renowned Instruments
Immerse yourself in breathtakingly realistic grand piano tone sourced from Kawai's exceptional EX concert grand, the SK-EX grand and SK-5 grand pianos. The MP11SE meticulously captures every nuance of Kawai's esteemed grand pianos through full multi-channel sampling of each of the 88 keys. This level of detail translates to an incredibly dynamic and organic sound that responds to your most delicate pianissimo passages or thunderous fortissimo chords. Whether playing classical, jazz or pop repertoire, the MP11SE's acoustic piano voices provide a richly satisfying foundation for your performances.

Sculpt the Perfect Piano Voice With Advanced Virtual Technician
Go beyond a static piano sample with the MP11SE's innovative Virtual Technician functions. These advanced parameters allow tailoring the piano's string and damper resonances, subtle mechanical noises and more—just like you'd find when servicing a real grand piano. Adjust the damper resonance to your taste, emphasizing or minimizing the sympathetic vibrations when you lift the damper pedal. Increase or decrease the amount of string resonance and subtle key-off effects for more control over the decay of each note. You can even fine-tune the overall touch curve and voicing characteristics to personalize the MP11SE to your playing style.

Powerful Amplification and Flexible Connectivity for Any Venue
With its impressive 40Wx2 bi-amped speaker system, the MP11SE projects a clear, dynamic sound that easily fills mid-sized venues and stages. The powerful amplification ensures every nuance of the piano's tone comes through, even when driving the speakers at high volumes. Comprehensive connectivity includes USB audio/MIDI for recording, Bluetooth support for streaming audio, and an AUX input for playing along with smartphones or other devices. Dedicated Pianist Mode settings give you customized control over functions like the damper pedal, string resonance and tuning for an optimal piano experience.
Whether you're a professional pianist, accompanist, composer or an enthusiast who demands the utmost realism, the Kawai MP11SE delivers an uncompromising grand piano experience in a portable stage piano package. Power up your piano playing with the Kawaii MP11SE stage piano.

An Amazingly simple, professional electric piano

I bought this to replace my Yamaha C3 grand after joining a local band, as it took up too much room and I got tired of tuning it. I use a Roland RD2000 and Juno DS for gigging, and the Kawai for my "piano" replacement at home. It is an exceptional keyboard, elegant and incredibly easy to learn and use. It is so enjoyable and inspiring to play, but not really practical for gigging unless you're in jazz band or the like due to the limited onboard sounds. However, the onboard sounds are outstanding, and they can be easily adjusted as needed. I can't say enough about this piano, it's definitely a keeper!!!

My original review was scrubbed. Perhaps Kawai didn't like it? Basically, amazing keyboard, horrid customer service, getting this keyboard in working condition was a nightmare. Kawai has no customer service. In fact, without some top-rate assistance and pressure from Guitar Center, I'm pretty sure Kawai would have left me with a brand-new broken keyboard. They didn't care at all. DO NOT BUY A KAWAI KEYBOARD UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO SPEND SEVERAL HOURS AND EXTRA MONEY GETTING A WORKING MODEL. That said, it is a fantastic keyboard, just might come broken.
Fantastic piano feel

This piano has a similar key action as the Kawai concert grand piano. I believe that the total key length is just a little shorter and the pivot is not exactly the same but unless you're a concert pianist you would never know. The keys have an amazing feel, touch sensitivity is excellent, and the sound is beyond fantastic. I haven't played it much just yet but so far, everything I see about this instrument is first rate. I like the feel of the keys to the touch, they have a nice (non plastic) feel to them. Solid cabinet, made of metal not plastic and the function keys are clear and seem easy to understand. If you have any experience with electronic music everything is very strait forward. One small down side is that this instrument is very heavy. At 73 pounds, I don't see it being used for gigging much unless you are the aforementioned concert pianist. The only other drawback is that you will need some powered speakers to plug into the sound output because it has none of its own. I suspect that anything they could include in the cabinet wouldn't do justice to the sounds this machine can produce. I added a pair of JBL control room monitors and I'm very pleased with the effect. This piano rocks!
