Excellent monitors

I purchased a set of the special edition KRK 5s about two weeks ago, and I absolutely love them. I played various genres to "break them in". They sound incredible, and for their size, extend well into lower frequencies. The mid and high registers are outstanding. The LF, HF, and volume knobs are sturdy and precise as well. It's important to adjust them to accommodate room acoustics. I produce music using Logic and Ableton, and have had no issues with fatigue. Make no mistake about it, if you produce bass heavy tracks, you will want a sub to fill in the lows. The best advice I can give is to listen to different brands for yourself and then decide. Everyone is different, and so are their respective tastes in speaker preference. Listening is subjective, and for me, these are a win. The reviewer who had various sound issues must not have the same monitors I have because mine in no way sound remotely like what he/she described. I use a focusrite interface with the KRKs and the sound is clear, clean, and precise...plus the silver cabinet and black woofer color scheme match my iMac. I definitely appreciate their overall freshness.

Would be perfect but..

These sound amazing but im pretty sure 1 of the 2 bought is faulty and by the point I realized it's too late to return. I get an electrical noise through 1 of them near the subwoofer through my usb audio interface. I've went through all of the motions swapped everycable, made sure there's no ground loop ect but the 1 speaker always has an electrical noise when no other sound is being played. Drives me crazy in the dead of night when everythings quiet. Looking online it seems I'm not the only one who had this issue with these monitors. Possible poor shielding, that's picking up all the computers electrical noise seeing as the other speaker has no issues wether I have it as left or right. Won't be buying KRK again.

I use these speakers to mix my recordings and of course play back the final songs. I often record over bass/808 heavy beats and these speakers really do my songs justice. My vocals sound crisp and clear. I've read tons of reviews between these and the Yamahas and I went with these because they said these were more for bass heavy songs and I'm glad I chose these. A studio I used to record in had these and I just loved the sound so I finally got my pair. Don't stress the issue, just buy them. They're great. Super loud for an apartment, I haven't gotten the chance to crank the volume all the way up. Lol.

  • Loved the Monitors, initially.

The Rokit 5 G3 Studio Monitord were the greatest thing to have in my home studio. However, after about a year or so, one of the monitors broke. I can't describe it any other way. Another user has complained about a noise similar to what I experience. It sounds like my smoke alarm has gone off. Nothing was shorted, overloaded, or dropped. With nothing connected, and the power on, the speaker emits a constant noise similar to a saw wave. nothing short of power off stoips the noise. It may delay during power on, but less than five minutes the darn speaker begins to buzz. I have never experienced this type of behavior in a speaker system. I plan to take the monitor to the dealer and determine if I can get them to assist me in getting the monitor repaired.
