KRK
Description
Whether you are listening to some tracks, or tracking your next recording, the KNS 6400 gives you the famous KRK sound independent of your monitors. This closed-back around-the-ear design brings you closer to your music, and the highly isolated surround pads give you the freedom to immerse yourself in the sound without having your monitor mix "escape" into open microphones - and keeps live instruments out of what you are monitoring. Having "One Voice" that consistently gives you accurate reproduction of your music or mix will help you achieve just what the artist intended - especially if the artist is you.

KRK headphones provide a precise listening experience that takes you from personal studio to commercial studio to on-the-go track evaluations - and they allow you to accurately enjoy your music with the consistent voicing philosophy and honest reproduction top producers, studio musicians, performers and engineers have come to trust.

The KNS 6400 offer an incredibly natural frequency response that gives you a reference standard unaffected by your location. Day or night. Studio or home. Without disturbing others. Without compromising your tracks.

Like "Near Field Monitors" for your ears

I've had these for over a month. These are NOT ۡ̏Beats by Dr. Dreۡݕ_. If your looking for headphones to color the music to make it sound better, then get those or some Bose headphones. If you are looking for accurate headphones that have none of that ۡ̏Half the sound in one ear, half in the other and a missing phantom centerۡݕ_. Then these are great. There is a smooth panning field with a well defined phantom center. They are like near field monitors for your ears. The bass is deep and well defined and will vibrate your headphones. The bass is not an overpowering driving force. These are for hearing the music as it really is. If you want to be able to mix a track so it sounds good on any equipment it's played on, then you want these. I will admit that if you are playing these just through your ۡ̏PC headphones outۡݕ_ jack they will sound like they are missing bass and the highs will sound brittle. Do yourself a favor and get a good headphone amp. You should have one anyway if you plan on mixing accurately. And by the way, these get REALLY LOUD without distorting with a good amp. Yet are very accurate at low levels. I have different headphones (BeatsByDre Pro, AKG K99, Audio-Technica ATH-M35, Shure SRH240) and I find these the best for mixing on due to how flat they are.I also like the fact that the cord is replaceable. I have had to replace headphones due to a ruined cord. Also I recommend burning these for about 3 days before they are really ready. I used a sine wave sweep generator while playing different styles of music (Dance/Hip Hop/Rock/Classical) for over 75 hours. In this price range these are the one of the best headphones you can get. Just don't expect much if playing through a weak amp like the ones built into laptops and PC's

Zero bass output kills the deal, Slightly lacking midrange, Clean upper end.

I wanted to like these, the specs sounded good and they're very comfortable and lightweight, but in reality they have very weak bass output to the point I thought something might be wrong, especially in comparison to my 5 year old Koss PortaPro headphones. I tried them on my PC and Onkyo HT receiver with the same results. They do sound very clean and I could easily notice a lower quality mp3 vs. high quality but the lack of bass is very distracting and turning up the bass only makes them distort. I also noticed the mid-range is a little lacking in comparison to my PortaPro's. Unfortunately ive decided to return them for something else.

I purchased these as backup headphones, and for hard use during my travels. As it turns out, I'm impressed and have been using them constantly in my home studio. The sound is flat as others have mentioned and so they work quite well for reference and mixing. For the price I don't think they can be beat. The design isn't anything fancy, but they look professional. I think KRK's focus was function over fashion, and keeping the price-point down. With respect to comfort and extended wear, I've worn them for 6 hours straight without pain or fatigue. For my late-night sessions I wouldn't use anything else.

  • amazing for the price

This are the best for the price! They are flat as a headphones could be, we know that for professional mixing you̴ll need good studio monitors and a suitable room, but if you don̴t have any of it at the time you are making music, this does the job very well. The isolation of the outside is fine, as well to the mics when recording vocals. This gives you the sense of hearing the music from speaker monitoring. The low end is good, I actually hear the electronic kick sub-bass pretty fine (you can clean the bass sounds very well) and mids are in place. My reason to not giving them 5 stars, is that I didn̴t like the support of the separated headpads, I would have liked one piece head-pad. The ear support is very good, and you can work with them long sessions. They are not fancy, the prices is for resistant materials and audio quality

Are these headphones good to use with a DJ mixer. I'm looking to upgrade my husbands to go with his DJ system. He has the KRK speakers already.
