Description
Turn Your iOS Device Into a Musical Instrument
With the plugKEY, a rich selection of iPhone/iPad musical instrument apps such as KORG Module and Apple GarageBand can be played seriously and easily from your keyboard. Just plug the Lightning connector of the plugKEY into your iPhone/iPad, and use a MIDI cable to connect the plugKEY to your keyboard. Because the plugKEY is certified by Apple as "Made for iPod/iPhone/iPad," there are no settings that you need to make. The power is supplied via the Lightning connector, and because it's a wired connection there are no latency issues. The plugKEY is ideal for players who have exacting requirements for tight timing.
Studio-quality 1/4" Audio Outputs
The plugKEY provides not only MIDI but also high-quality audio interface functionality for your iPhone/iPad. It features 1/4" jack audio outputs, so you can have confidence that the plugKEY will withstand the rigors of the stage or studio. This means that your iPhone/iPad can evolve into a real musical instrument. There's also a volume knob for smoothly adjusting the volume, as well as a headphone jack (stereo mini-phone).
Use While Charging Your iOS Device
Since the plugKEY is equipped with a DC5V microUSB port, you can charge your iOS device via the plugKEY. This allows you to use your musical instrument app without worrying about remaining battery life, an important consideration for extended music production sessions, studio rehearsals, or live performances.
Compact Design Can Be Taken Anywhere
With carefully selected minimum functionality such as MIDI input, audio output, and charging, the plugKEY features a compact design that's similar in size to the iPhone. When connected to your iPhone/iPad and MIDI keyboard, the plugKEY itself will unobtrusively fit anywhere, and can be conveniently carried to the studio or anywhere. You can choose from black and white models to match your iPhone/iPad.

I needed a midi controller that would allow me to connect my malletKAT with my iPad or iPhone. I just received so I can't speak to durability yet but I was able to take it out of the box and start playing in about five minutes. It is perfect for what I need. I love that it has 1/4 inch outputs that go straight to a speaker and a 3.5 mm headphone jack when I want to play and hear myself without bothering anyone else in the house. I was using the iRig Pro I/O Portable Audio/MIDI for iOS, USB but the skirt is much easier to use and doesn't have as many cables or connections. Also the iRig does not have the 1/4 inch cable output to run to a speaker, so you can only run the sound through the 3.5 mm output, which was a pain. Lastly, I love the volume control on the Korg as well that allows you to control how loud or soft the sound comes out of either your speaker or headset. This is a must!

All Around, Love This Product! I got 2 of these, one for my iPad for my go to main usage! And one for my iPhone as a back up. Studio, Live. You can even use it for playing music in your car! Awesome product. Again my only con would be, that Korg needs to add an Audio Line In-(Via Mono and Stereo Options), for when you want to directly record into your smart/portable device, for tracking, or sharing Social Media Live. But besides that. That's it. Good job Thus Far Korg!
Definitely Love It! Says What It Does! Perfecto!

I venturing out now in plugins and musical apps. And since this is way more portable via hooking it up using your iPhone or iPad, versus lugging around another board or heavy keyboard rack. You just plug it up with the necessary cords and power supply and your ready to roll! Love it!
Wow can't believe this is from Korg

Well first of all the thing is a 100 bux which is pricey considering the fact that it basically serves 1 function, connecting a keyboard to the new iPhone that so conveniently has no headphone jack, anyway, the Plugkey even performs this function poorly as it uses a 5 pin midi connector...not USB. As one will notice many keyboards in 2017 connect via USB so u will not only likely need to buy a keyboard w/ a 5 pin midi connection but that keyboard is also likely to be old and outdated. This is not a minor gripe considering the cost of the Plugkey and that it is wrongly advertised as state of the art. Also about 2 months in the midi connection stopped working I replaced the chord and tested the keyboard with other equipment and all is well... except the Plugkey. I reached out to Korg but haven't heard anything. The IPhone connection issue is a frustrating one but the Plugkey is not the solution for 100 there are much better options.
