Great Tuner for Beginners

I bought one of these about 10 years ago and it was the first tuner I ever bought. Its great for beginners that are just learning to play and don't really have a need for non-standard tunings. When my young nephew got a guitar for Christmas he struggled with the chromatic tuner he got with it. I ended up giving him my GT-3 and whenever I go over now, its always in tune. He loves it, and at times I miss its simplicity.
Basic But Durable

The only reason to purchase a GT-3 is for its durability. The LEDs will not fail and there is no meter to break or LCD to crack. It tunes reliably but there is no provision for dropped or alternate tunings, which I did find limiting when I was playing rock and I subsequently sold this tuner to a friend. Now that I'm playing only standard tuning in church I'm wondering if I should reclaim it. However, as many others have noted there are better and cheaper options in this category. The GT-3's day has likely passed.
Average Tuner

I bought the Korg GT-3 about 2 years ago. Its a good tuner, it will get the job done for a basic tune. The mic on the tuner is handy, but a little to picky. If there is much noise at all it will mess up your tuning. But it does have a plug in so you can get a good clean tuning that way.

This is the most basic handheld tuner on the market. It is only capable of doing the notes standard tuning, but I am a simple man, and the only other tuning I use is drop D so this tuner is all I need. The built in mic is nice for tuning acoustic guitars. For the money this is a great, reliable, and simplistic tuner.

I bought this, uninformed, when I got my first guitar. It's ok, my wife used it for her bass, but it's not versatile for guitar. It only does standard tuning, and the tuning LEDs seem to bounce around a lot. The tuner in my RP200A works much better, as does the built-in tuner in my Ibanez acoustic-electric. I will soon be getting a Boss TU-2 and then this one will be collecting dust, or at least finding a permanent home in the bass gig bag.
Easy Tuner For A Beginner

The Korg GT-3 Guitar Tuner is a good choice for beginners. It will help you with basic tuning for your electric or acoustic guitar. I've used it for both on my electric and my acoustic Ibanez guitars. When the green light located in the middle of red lights on either side lights up your good to go. It has a meter on the bottom right to let you know what string your tuning (bass guitar as well). It takes a 9-volt battery that will seem to last forever.
