I just got a bass several months ago and none of my stands worked for it because of the asymmetrical shape. This stand I am able to prop it up and not worry about it sliding one way or the other.

A-style stands are most convenient for carrying with instruments to jams and gigs, and K&M stands can be adjusted for width. Wife has a mini electric bass and several autoharps, all of which require a slightly less wide stand. I now have a K&M stand for every instrument that we carry with us.
