Jackson
Description

The Jackson Pro Soloist SL2Q MAH is a Lamborghini for shredders! This innovative electric guitar opens up horizons of playability for technical rock and metal players, with a formidable fusion of tonewoods, pickups and hardware for an unparalleled high-performance experience.

A Neck Built for Speed

The SL2Q MAH's 12"-16" compound radius ebony fingerboard is designed for highly technical lightspeed playing. More curved by the nut for comfortable chording, it flattens out up the neck for increasingly fast solos and wide bends without fretting out. 24 jumbo frets provide ample room for expressive note-bending and vibratos. An oiled maple neck and graphite reinforcement rods guard against warping, even under duress of aggressive playing styles.

Pickups for Power and Versatility

A pair of Seymour Duncan humbucking pickups—a TB-6 Distortion bridge pickup and SH-6N Distortion neck pickup—provide a balanced blend of high output and rich tone. The TB-6 kicks out tight, aggressive mids and highs ideal for metal and hard rock. The SH-6N delivers warm, fat lows perfect for full chords and emotive leads. A three-way toggle switch lets you access each pickup individually or blend both for maximum tonal flexibility.

Hardware for Diving and Soaring

The recessed Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo bridge and Floyd Rose R3 locking nut provide ultra-stable tuning for radical dive bombs and sky-high squeals. Anchored to the body at six points, the Floyd Rose offers a massive range of motion without losing pitch accuracy. Gold-plated hardware exhibits bold style to match the SL2Q MAH's formidable tone and playability.

Ergonomic Shred-Ready Design

The SL2Q MAH's sculpted alder body provides balanced weight distribution for playing comfort. Its deep cutaway allows unencumbered access to the upper frets. The pointed 6-in-line headstock is a signature Jackson hallmark. Alumiloid Piranha Tooth inlays inject an element of danger to match this guitar's hard rock attitude.

Totally worth the price

I'm a 13 year old who has been playing guitar for four years and is the lead guitarist in a band. I didn't actually buy this guitar, but after playing it for a little while I made several observations: The neck has a very nice feel, almost like an acoustic guitar, and is very comfortable. It is fairly thin, but not small, and has a slightly grainy feel without the uncomfortable gloss finish. This guitar has 24 jumbo frets, with the unique characteristic that although the frets do get smaller the higher up you go, it's still easy to solo up there, even with my fat fingers, and it has easier access to the higher frets then a Flying V or Rhoads. I also love the six to a side tuners. As far as the electronics go, the pickups are very nice and don't get muddy even with the gain cranked up to 10. They sound great clean too. This makes the soloist a super versatile guitar. The Floyd Rose bridge is great and keeps the guitar in tune even after multiple dive bombs. I typically like more knobs on a guitar, as I usually associate more knobs with more control, but despite having only master tone and volume knobs, you still get a lot of control over your sound. In all, it's a sick guitar, not just for hard rock and metal, but for pretty much any genre you can think of, with solid hardware and electronics as well as a great feel and eye catching looks.

Hmmm

Ok, i own several jacksons from USA made to indo made & compared to USA & JAPANESE models the quality of the indo instruments are "lacking". Ive recently owned 3 "PRO" soloist sl2's & each 1 arrived in DESPERATE need of a setup & 2 of the 3 had sharp fret edges, needed leveling & necks were bowed (this may have been during shipping, temp & climate change idk). The 2nd 1 i got was the best of the 3 & after a little time & effort it is a very nice playing guitar. Ive also got a few ibanez's from indo & same probs & again i kept 1, the 1 that needed the least amount of work to make a decent players guitar. Seems quality control is OR WAS lacking but from what i understand their coming from china now JOY JOY! (Lol) anyway PLEASE dont compare these guitars to 1's made here in the states or the "MIJ" guitars either, build quality, tonal qualities & general attention to detail is immeasurably better & if you have time play 1 side by side with an indo & you will be amazed at what a JACKSON should be (preferably a b4 fender takeover jackson) its apples & garden rakes! So moral is you get what you pay 4/ ignorance is bliss! Hope this helps some of you ready to drop a stack on a new "MII" OR WORSE "MIC" soloist, look for a used USA or Japanese jackson YOU WILL GET MORE THAN YOUR $$'S WORTH! I hope this helps, take things easy people.

Jackson Pro Soloist SL2Q MAH Electric Guitar Transparent Green. Received as requested, next day service. I spent about 3 hours getting it "setup" properly. Whole high side of fret board was sprout city. Fixed that with specialized sprout file. Had multiple high frets which were (gently) malleted back into level with 2 exceptions. Those had to be filed. Carefully polished all frets with (1200 to 12000) grit for that shine. Cleaned, new strings, slight truss adjust and ready for jamming. Very low action, a real pleasure to play. Really dig this color. I give this 4 out of 5 starts. If you are looking for out of the box ready, these guitars may not be what you are looking for. You may want to spend more for MIJ or USA models.

I absolutely love jackson and have owned 5 indonesian jacksons over the last 5 years. I've owned a chris Broderick pro series 7, I've owned 2 pro series 24 fret rhoads, and now I own an sl2q and sl7q. In my experience if you got a poor quality Jackson made from indonesia you got seriously bad luck. All my jacksons I've ever owned other than my japan ke3 were all flawless and the only reason the ke3 wasnt is because it had a cheap Jackson brand floyd rose in it.

This is an awesome guitar. One of the best, if not the best I've ever owned. It looks, plays, and sounds amazing. On top of that, I paid less than $1000 for it out the door. The guitar, the deal, and the service could not have been better. Thank you so much Guitar Center for not only having this guitar and selling it to me, but for putting up with me coming almost weekly for almost 20 years to your San Marcos location to jam out and play/practice. I honestly developed a lot of my chops and guitar knowledge by doing this. You guys are great and I won't forget this. Thank you.

I have been playing over 35 years and am a shredder from back in the day when we all had Jackson's and Ibanez's. So my generation cut their teeth on quality guitars with amazing nicks and playability...This guitar is no exception. Incredible craftsmanship in every detail. Not only to do you neck through and great pickups that don't need changed and a ebony fret board, but you get the gorgeous maple top over a mahogany body. I have the White one and it looks like "smoke" over the quilter top and with the details and the black binding, it just looks incredible in person! I could not be happier with this purchase and I cannot put this guitar down (and I have a lot of guitars) !!!! I literally have nothing to say other than I wish these included actual Jackson cases (even if it was a little more money) In my day you never saw a guitar costing in the thousand dollar neighborhood and would not get a hard-shell case...the industry as a whole needs to return to this. For the working musician or a guy who loves to play but has to go to work and raise a family, you cannot go wrong with the amount of top quality parts and features! You could easily take this guitar right onto the large arena stages or play a massive festival. Its that good! Don't be fooled by the "Indonesia" on the headstock. If American companies could offer this kind of quality in this price range they would have a lot more business and would not have to charge 3 and 4 times the price to get this kind of quality shred machine!

Is the Indonesian made sl2q feel solid, and do the Jackson necks warp easy because of being one piece necks? and is there many flaws in the guitar? Cause I'm looking to spend about 1000.00, now that my 1990 Japanese made Yamaha rgz custom is completely worn out after many attempts to repair it, but it'd cost me an arm and a leg, and it still has a twist in the neck which isn't completely repairable.

Yes, it's made in Indonesia. The neck is fine.

It is mainly a matter of personal preference. This guitar would work with any light, medium or heavy gauge electric guitar strings.
