Wireless, Powerful, Beautiful, and Satisfying.
The Bar 9.1 came packaged well and was easy to get out of the pack. The bar itself is hefty and feels of quality, as does the detachable, battery powered atmos enabled surround speakers. They dock surprisingly well to the bar, the magnets convey a feeling of trust that they will not separate unless you wish them to. The sub-woofer is an imposing unit, for a sound bar kit. It provides a proper bottom end to movies as well as a competent, fast responding response for various music styles. Five levels are select-able for the sub-woofer, I find that level 2 is quite enough for casual listening, this thing can rock your room if you wish. Placement is key. The whole system, once positioned correctly and dialed in with the setup signal " it is a two step process, do not miss this ". it coherently brings together audio tracks with ease. This units wifi setup easily though the google home app. Provides more than enough sonic oomph to satisfy anyone looking for a compact, wireless solution. I've wall mounted my main bar and surrounds. Mounts included are metal and robust, I suggest you seek out wall anchors from home depot or the like as the ones included break quite easily when trying to tap into the wall. DO NOT skimp on wall installation as the main bar is weighty as is the surrounds. The surrounds attach and remove easily from the slide in wall mounts, you may also connect a micro usb cable for power into each surround if desired for a more permanent solution " not included ". The connections on the back of the bar are sufficient. It includes an HDMI in and out. This sound bar is future proofed as it supports E-ARC. It will support the next generation of hdmi compatibility. Chromecast and airplay are present and sync audio up quite easily. I'm very pleased with the volume of audio this thing presents, the atmos is a cool feature that also is pretty convincing adding a whole new atmosphere of sound to envelope you into the experience. Good job JBL, one of the first to market with a wireless solution that is competent in it's sound production as well as looking sophisticated enough to want to display in your room. This will not replace big box speakers and a home theater receiver. But if your looking for wife approval in the looks/space saving department, and still want enough bang to make you smile, This may be for you. Fits the bill for us. Pop the corn, turn up the bar and enjoy some down time.

Potential To Be Great
I've had this sound bar for about a month now, and I'm both happy and frustrated with it. When working properly, this sound bar delivers a really nice sound, exciting ATMOS effects, deep bass tones and really enjoyable 5.1.4 surround. What I also like: • The convenience and clean look this system can bring to any room. These are truly wireless rear speakers • I know I stated ATMOS above, but these speakers deliver. I have over 10 foot tall ceilings and these have no problem bouncing the sound off that height. The sound you get from above you is a really cool sensation. • eARC capability to passthrough DOLBY VISION, ATMOS, HDR10, DTX...all the good stuff to enjoy movies' latest features. • The magnetic connection of the rear speakers to the main unit. It's a nice, solid bond that will not accidentally fall out. • The power this system delivers. The max volume is about 32, and I've never gone above 18 (just testing it out) because it started getting ridiculously loud. I usually leave the level between 11-13 for a really good "theater" loudness/feeling. What I don't like...The following are pretty frequent complaints I've read on multiple website, by other consumers who bought this system: • When detached from the main sound bar, the rear speakers can become distorted, with the sound cutting in and out. Putting my ear next to the rear speakers, I can sometimes hear static. • The Sound bar turns itself on all the time, kicking it out of standby mode, which saves energy and charges the rear speakers. • No EQ setting – A brand new system like this should have at least an app to adjust/customize the settings to you preferences. • If I try to calibrate/pair the rear speakers more than 15 feet from the main sound bar, the calibration fails and will not pair properly. When the rears are attached to the main bar, there are no problems and everything sounds fine, but you don't have the full surround sound experience. I'm really hoping there is an update soon to address all of the problems the rear speakers have when detached from the sound bar; the random times the system turns itself off; and to make available EQ settings. If there are no updates soon to address these problems, I will be returning this soon for a new system, or a refund. I hope others have better luck than me, as this system has potential to be a great addition to your home theater.

Best soundbar ever! I have always used receivers and speakers and have never been a fan of soundbars. That was until I heard this soundbar and I immediately got it. I love how unlike a lot of soundbars all the speakers are wireless! The main soundbar only needs to plug into the eARC HDMI port on your TV or the Digital Optical port if your oldschool and also into a power outlet, the subwoofer is wireless and only needs to plug into a power outlet, the rear speakers are totally wireless with built in batteries that give your around 8 to 10 hours of battery life before you need to plug them onto the sides of the soundbar to charge them, or you can plug them into a power outlet with a USB port so that you never have to charge them. Also everything is super easy to setup, I had my system plugged in and set up in about 20 minutes, the wireless sub and wireless speakers connect super easy with no guesswork involved. I have an LG TV and it connected to my TV just fine and although I have to use the JBL remote to adjust things like Bass, Atmos and Rear speaker levels, however my LG TV remote adjusts the volume just fine. My previous sound system was a 5.1 receiver speaker setup with a 10" sub which was pretty weak since it had no built in amp and ran off the receiver giving it only about 50watts. However my 5.1 system sounded decent, or at least I though so till I heard my JBL 9.1 Soundbar! I had never experianced Atmos at home before, but now that I have I will never go back to not having Atmos. Think about it like this with 5.1 Surround Sound you can hear when someone is coming from behind or from the left or right, well with Atmos Surround Sound it makes that way better all of the sudden your hearing things above you, like a helicopter or jet fly over head, things exploding above you, a car flying over the top of you, a building crashing down around you etc. it brings theater sound to your livingroom. It's basically like 3 dimensional sound and unlike the 3D TV fad Atmos Surround Sound is here to stay! Once you have heard it you will be a believer
Solid sound, but disappointing lack of controls

I am frankly disappointed with the performance of this product. I am a huge JBL fan and have bought many speakers and always been pleased with them. The bass is pretty solid after break in, but does cut out at high volume. The overall sound has a have a lot of power and is pretty crisp and loud. The controls and surround are disappointing. There are only 3 sound settings you can control including Atmos (up firing sound), removable speaker surround level (off, low, medium, high), and bass. When watching sports or car racing, the surround sound (both connected to the bar or put at the back of the room) make it difficult to hear the announcer audio. One workaround I found is to disconnect the removable speakers from the bar and turn the surround off. I personally don't like the sound from the removable speakers with them disconnected. and placed at the back of the room. My Polk soundbar that the JBL replaced, had voice enhancement levels you could choose from to make the voice audio louder as desired. The JBl needs more controls to adjust sound. For the price of this unit, I don't think it delivers the value and features it should.

Terrible. EARC on this speaker goes out constantly and takes forever to reconnect. This is an absolutely terrible product and JBL should be embarrassed.
