Plug into the Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer overdrive effects pedal, and you're plugging into thick and overdriven tube-style tone. This green beast is a classic—not to mention a modern pedalboard staple. The original Tube Screamer propelled to fame when Stevie Ray Vaughan used it to craft his signature tone. Today, those original TS808 Tube Screamers go for serious coin on the collector's market, but with this reissue you can get those same sought-after tones without breaking the bank. Push your amp, round out your tone—load up with the Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer.

Authentic Vintage Parts for Legendary Tone

It's back—the incomparable overdrive pedal that's been described as the Holy Grail of tube screamers. The TS808 reissue features the same famous standout square footswitch as the original and the even more famous warm tones of the JRC4558 chip used in most of the original TS808's. Ignore any over-the-counter lookalikes. If your tone is suffering from a lack of real warmth, the TS808 is the real, non-generic prescription.

Simple Controls, Complex Tone

With just three knobs—Level, Tone and Overdrive—you can shape a range of overdriven tones from bluesy warmth to screaming leads. The Level knob controls the output level, the Tone knob adjusts tone from darker to brighter, and the Overdrive knob takes you from subtle breakup to full-on distortion. A true-bypass switch ensures zero signal degradation when the effect is off.

Roadworthy and Stage-Ready

The TS808 Tube Screamer's compact, lightweight design takes up minimal space on your pedalboard and is built to withstand the rigors of the road. It runs on a 9V battery or power supply. For over 40 years, the TS808 Tube Screamer has been helping guitarists from all genres achieve a signature tone. Experience the legend for yourself, available today at Guitar Center.

So that's how S.R.V. did it!

I'm really glad that this pedal has been reissued. There is a uniqueness to it.I use it the way S.R.V. did, which is with the gain turned off,it serves as a clean boost.S.R.V.'s amps were always turned up and breaking up already. The pedal would serve as a boost for solos, adding compression and sustain without dramatically altering the tone. With other tubescreamers and clones, you don't get the same type of warm density and creaminess as the 808.I play mainly strats through a Fender blues deluxe on the drive channel. My rhythm sound has the crunchy breakup I need and the 808 is perfect for my solos while preserving the main tonal characteristics of the guitar going through the amp.It is my main pedal.I compared it to a Keely modded ts-9(converted to original 808 specs)and really couldn't hear a significant difference,so why pay more for a boutique pedal?S.R.V. used the 808 early in his career(before using ts-9's and ts-10's)and I think that was his best tone.

A Op. amp is an Op. amp, period

I do not see the point in spending three times as much for this Tube Screamer when for a third of the price you can get an excellent value from its competitors. I am a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer. I can assure you an Operational amplifier is an Operational amplifier, which is the chip used to overdrive/distort/increase gain/clip a sinusoidal waveform. There is no magic wand to make Transistors, Resistors, Diodes and Capacitors any different. In fact, the manufacturers of these devices buy these chips in bulk from their makers (less than a handfull) in Japan. So, shop wisely and forget the hipe the sales and marketing folks sell you. any of the good competitors such as Boss.

Comparing it to an original tube screamer, I think Ibanez did an incredible job.

I just bought the TS808 reissue and did a shoot out: TS 808 vs.TS9 and i have to say, not a lot of difference except the TS808 is just a little bit more creamy. was it worth the extra $$$ compared to the cost of the TS9?….not really. But, I really liked the TS9 and thought/hoped the TS808 reissue would be a significant upgrade. I am keeping the 808 and will be using at my weekly gig.

  • It's NOT transparent, because it's NOT supposed to be...

This pedal is worth the hype 100%... If you're reading the right hype! It's an awesome pedal for that classic rock crunch, pushing an already hot tube amp over board into perfect leads! Think glam, early punk, and especially britpop like Oasis! One last important note to all the jokers complaining that it's not "transparent" enough... Guess what, it's not supposed to be! Do some research, watch some videos... This is the best of the best of SOFT CLIPPING overdrive pedals. Soft clipping means it adds mid tone grit that isn't there to cut through the mix beautifully. If you want a "transparent" drive pedal that completely keeps the tone of your guitar like an amp being turned up a bit, you want a BLUES BREAKER or a similar clone. Me, I prefer this one cuz it gives you that classic rock crunch right in the middle of the mix so that every chord and riff cuts right through! Cheers
