The Ibanez S420 Electric Guitar is crafted with a mahogany body that delivers a warm tone. With a sleek top arch the S420 is a highly playable guitar that feels luxurious.

The S420 guitar's 3-piece bolt-on maple neck has the fast Ibanez Wizard II neck profile and is dressed with 24 jumbo frets for increased expressiveness. A Zero Resistance (ZR) double-locking ball-bearing bridge offers smooth and stable tremolo action.

The guitar's Ibanez INF humbucking pickups boast a versatile tonal array. With a weathered black finish, black hardware, and an unadorned fingerboard, the Ibanez S420 has a subtle, menacing vibe.

Infinity humbucking pickups
The versatile and responsive INF1 pickup installed in the neck position has a ceramic magnet for warm classic tone and added output. The humbucking INF2 bridge pickup features an enhanced midrange output. Its Alnico-V magnet enhances individual string clarity and excellent dynamics.

Zero Point tremolo system
The unique Ibanez Zero Point system stabilizes the bridge and insures tuning stability by consistently returning the tremolo to the center point (or zero point). In addition to the usual tremolo springs, the Zero Point System features 2 additional springs, which ensure the bridge's return to the center point. Quickly adjust the Zero Point system by hand‚ÄĚthere's no need for a hex wrench. The Ibanez S420 guitar's ZR tremolo system employs ballol-bearings for smooth, precise, and friction-free action.

The Beast

By Joe Hixon

from Michigan City, IN

So i got this guitar after getting a job and working for it. I decided 3 months ago that i wanted this. I also played a schecter hellraiser fr that day and a couple other schecters. This one beat both of them. And this one was half the price. This one has more of a metal tone but can kick out the cleanest tones ever. This one is alot more playable and is very thin. This is good for a guitarist who doesnt wanna have a shoulder that hurts during a gig. The worn finish is really nice. It goes great with the hardware and makes the hardware stick out. The tremelo system is great. Especially if you know how to use it. I prefer this guitar over gibson, fenders, epiphones, schecters, and any other major guitar company. This guitar is a steal. go get one.

Ibanez S420 Electric Guitar review

By Vicente Tellez

from National City, CA

In general this guitar is great for all kind of music styles of playing. The pickups might not be active but they have a great organic and smooth sound that on stage and alone the guitar will always have its sound. Apperance: It has a u neck wich makes it very nice..... it has the ibanez headstock wich is also nice. This guitar has a great design but it is also very light and comfortable to play. It has a 5 way switch blade and a volume and a tone. Sound: Like i said before this guitar has great pickups that are not active but still manages to give this cool organic sound and you can also make it a little smoother. The guitar is special because like many guitarrist look for a guitar that will give them the same power on stage well this guitar will. Besides the Zero resistance (ZR) Double-locking tremolo bridge is gret to master all kinds of crazy loud sounds. P.S. I recommend you buy this guitar.

100% Sound, 100% Playability

By S. James

from Sacramento, CA

This has quickly become my favorite guitar. The S420's shape is so comfortable that I can play for hours. Most mahogany guitars weigh you down with a fat slab, but the S420 puts the wood where it needs it without sacrificing and inch of tone or sustain. I plug it into my Marshall amp and shred. The Wizard III neck is a slim maple neck that makes it easy to get my fingers anywhere on the neck. The tremolo bar is solid and keeps the strings in tune through my heavy abuse. I will say that even though this guitar's ceramic / alnico humbucker pickups are versatile enough to play any style of music, it loves rock and can really scream on the higher end. Highly recommended! alnico bridge ceramic in neck

I recieved this guitar for christmas of 09 so ive had some time with this thing and be able to figure out the pros and cons. This guitar is really good for Zakk Wylde, Dimebag, or Randy Rhoads style playing because of the floyd and metal pickups. I play in difrent tunings alot and the tuners hold it exceptionally well. I switch between drop C and E standard almost daily and the tuners can hold my guitar in tune for a long time-even with the floyd dives. I would highly recomend buying this guitar.

Great Value, Low Price

By Colt McNutt

from Osceola, Indiana

This guitar is perfect for anyone who is looking for a mid-priced guitar with great sound. The pickups made by Ibanez are good sounding for such a guitar, and the neck is very nice for a shred guitarist. The body can be more fit for smaller people though, unless you enjoy a tighter style of play. A wonderful guitar though!

made in Indonesia , the new ibanez , like the previous s320 , has a matt black finish . Infinity 1 & 2 pickups , 5 way toggle switch , and a nonresistent tremolo , with the zps and spring adjustment system . 24 frets . there is only one inlay at the 12th fret , but there are side markers so you won't get lost . it has an ibanez wizard 2 neck . maple neck , rosewood fretboard , and mahogany body . the sound has good clarity , but not the best for blues . the action was fine , neck straight , and the tremolo was set up when i got it . frets are finished beautifully , the pickups are in perfect hight with the strings . I could see this guitar lasting many years . the pickups are good , the strap buttons solid , and i would gig with no backup with it . thefinish is BEAUTIFULL !!! It looks sounds , and even feels great . I took one star off for lack of color . but all in all - good job , Ibanez !

Not bad

By Joe

from San Diego, CA

This guitar's pretty good. I like the thin body and the tremelo bar. the only disappointment i had was the wizard neck. it's not as flat as an RG wizard neck, so if you're looking for that kind of neck, don't get this guitar. the tremelo system is excellent, and the pickups are good for rock playing.

I have 5 guitars, an RG, Schecter, Les Paul, Warmoth, and this one now, along with 2 basses, both Ibanez Soundgears. I must say this is the best guitar of them all. The weathered black caught my eye, and when picking up, felt very solid. I was really impressed with the ZR Tremolo, (Zero Resistance), I did killer divebombs and would not go out of tune??!!! I also noticed the awesome sustain. I was very skeptical of the INF pickups, as DiMarzio are my choice, however, these pickups are so powerful, I had to turn down the bass on my rig, didn't notice that at the store. They also sound so clean, and each string sounds clear from one another when played individually which blew me away, these pickups ROCK, (not saying my other guitars don't, just the clarity was much more on these pickups which was a surprise). The Mahogany body is thin, but solid and very comfortable, even more so than my RG. The dark chrome on the hardware was very nice. The Wizard II neck is very thin as well, similar to the RG for fast action. I can play clean strat sounds to heavy thrash, it all sounds soooo good, I just couldn't believe it, the 5 way switch provided many different sounds from the pickups. 500 bucks is a lot to shell out for a axe, however, this guitar really gives the higher end guitars a run for its money for sure and a big step up from the lower end. I like this guitar better than my RG, Schecter, and Les Paul.

Smooth as Butter

By Justin Stewart

from Wheaton, IL

I normally don't pick up an Ibanez expecting it to play as well as this one did. It really impressed me with the fact that it's a guitar that you can play in several genres such as I play. The pick-ups although simple, do bring out the sound that you play on this quite well. I recommend it 100%

Ok i guess

By George LaManna

from Memphis, Tn

This guitar is ok. I love Ibanez guitars. They are great and have some of the best bridges on the market next to the Floyd Rose ones. This guitar has the bridge on it but there are seven strings so it is a little different from the other trmelo bridges.

A Look at the S420

By Erathma

from Los Angeles, CA

The simple truth is, this guitar is an excellent value, but there IS a difference between this and a higher end (not necessarily more expensive) guitar. The tone is curiously good for such a thin body. The playability is excellent for the [rice. The money you didn't spend may be noticed as you work your way to the higher register of the instrument. Though, with the right technique, your tone wont suffer. There i little, if anything, this guitar can't do that a guitar costing a few hundred could. I love mine. I always will. Though there are better guitars out there, for the price, I've got to give this thing 5 stars. I might add the fact that it's fun to play live with such a light guitar and still get thick sound out of it.

ibanez s420

By Michael Bunny

from Wheatfield, New York

This guitar is one of the, if not the best guitar I have ever played. The "s" series body looks and feels great. The pickups are fine if you are not a professional guitarist. the neck feels and plays excellent. The five way pickup selector is one of the most brilliant things ever made. It lets you have either humbuckers or single coils. Overall, this is an amazing guitar.

good guitar

By Luke

from NY

I played this guitar a couple of times in my search for a new axe a while back. It sounded great and the neck was butter, but the fact that it has a double locking trem was inconvenient for me. if they made this with a fixed bridge, i would probably own it.

really only ONE flaw

By Ramiro Alizaga

from Costa Rica

This is a great guitar, neck plays like a dream, ZR tremolo is the most stable thing ever and is soft to use, string height and intonation came perfect out of the box. I tune this guitar once in two weeks and that's like a dream for me. THIS is ONE versatile guitar, you can play any style guaranteed. The only one flaw is the sustain. For a floating trem is very good, but in some ocassions the notes die before time. Maybe some pickup swap could make it better and a new sustain block. But overall I couldn't be happier with my purchase!!! btw shipped to Costa Rica, perfect packacing and it came in perfect conditions.
