Ibanez Prestige RG652AHM Electric Guitar Nebula Green Burst

This thing looks and feels great. The neck is incredibe and the edge Trem is awesome. The gripe I have is that it's SUPER heavy... Another to really consider is that this is a MIJ guitar, but you can buy a slightly cheaper Ibanez that has a through neck (instead of this bolt-on) with more tonal versatility (Same pickups, different configuration).

For the money this is a great guitar. Required only minor adjustments for my preferences. The neck is slim but comfortable. The edge trem is one of the best terms available. The dimarzio pickups are amazingly versatile, excellent for all levels of crunch and sound great clean. Craftsmanship is spot on, finish is perfect, frets are nice and level.

Just tremendous feel, fit, and finish not to mention the tone! The DiMarzio pups are more than capable of dialing in a variety of tones from metal to blues to shimmering clean. I have a set of active DiMarzios in another guitar but this is my first experience with a passive set - I'm sold on DiMarzio. I have other, more expensive (PRS Custom, USA Strat) and comparably priced (Jackson, Epiphone, Dean) guitars, but this Prestige is the best playing, best feeling, most flexible of the bunch. The trem is more precise than any floyd I've ever used and have only had to tune it once (when i unboxed it.) Just a quality instrument at an affordable price relative to the $2k + customs, USA's and other Japanese-made axes out there. I was on the fence for months (mainly because I wasn't a fan of the color) but glad i made the leap. RE the color - it has grown on me and the Birds Eye Maple fret board is gorgeous (i normally prefer ebony or rosewood) and a joy to play. Still not a huge fan of the off white (seemingly lime in some lighting) binding but it doesn't matter; this is a keeper. Hope this helps anyone else who might be considering this guitar - go ahead, you won't regret it!

It comes from the warehouse with 9's (who knows what strings) and a standard E tuning, but guitar was perfectly set-up to those specs. I changed them out after a few days for D'Addario XL 10's and dropped to an open D tuning. Had to spend a few hours adjusting the guitar. But it was well worth it. This guitar plays like a dream. Smooth neck, easy fret. Plays as fast or as slow as you want. Tremolo locking is fantastic. Dive bomb and stays in tune. This is the widest range of pick-up tones I experienced on a guitar. Go from thin and nasal (like an acoustic or a Fender Strat on a middle pick-up position) all the way up to shaking the walls and a screamin' demon. Bottom line: this is a great guitar. Probably not for folk artists, country, or light jazz. Definitely for metal to fusion.

I have owned several Ibanez guitars (various models) since the 80s, but never a Prestige. I also recently purchased an Ibanez J.Custom guitar (their highest end line, at more than twice the cost of a Prestige), so it was great to compare them. While the J.Custom is easily one of the finest guitars I have ever touched, the Prestige is a great relative value for the price and shares some of the same attributes (e.g., same pickups, neck dimensions, fret edge treatment, made in Japan). I purchased my Prestige used from Guitar Center and it was less than a year old (excellent condition). The used price was in line with what the market demands for similar used Prestige guitars. The Super Wizard neck is amazing - as much as I love all of my guitars (including Jackson Custom Shop, PRS Custom 24, Les Paul Standard, and more), the Wizard necks by Ibanez are truly my favorite. Thin, fast and smooth! I also love the look of the birdseye maple fretboard on this model - it's subtle but you have to see it close up. The pickups (Tone Zone and Air Norton) are two of my favorite pickups in combination and very versatile. The Edge bridge is fantastic - it's my favorite bridge next to an original Floyd Rose. It "flutters" very nicely and stays in tune great. This model (RG652AHM) is produced in two colors, and the other is the Antique White Blonde (the color I chose), which I like better than the Nebula Green. The green is okay, but the white is just sexy in my opinion. It's the same exact guitar though otherwise (same model number). I often don't give out 5 stars, but I think the quality and value here deserves it.
