Ibanez

Description

The Ibanez Prestige Series embodies over 40 years of dedication to building high-quality electric guitars and basses for the discriminating musician. Instruments bearing the Prestige moniker represent the pinnacle of Japanese luthiery and are proudly played by some of the most respected musicians in the world.

Designed for the pro musician, the SR5005OL is a stunning 5-string bass from the acclaimed Prestige Series. The body consists of a Mahogany core with Oil finish Wenge front and back caps. Wenge is an excellent tonewood with qualities. It delivers excellent punch and projection with a response that is immediate and balanced. The SR5005OL neck is a 5-pc Wenge/Bubinga Atlas-5 HP neck with KTS TITANIUM rod for the ultimate in stability and reliability. A Wenge fretboard, embedded with elegant Abalone & Pearl oval inlays, makes a striking, chic impression. The Mono-Rail V bridge system provides superior string isolation with maximum vibration transfer and is designed for quick, precise intonation adjustments.

For electronics, the SR5005OL features Bartolini custom pickups, specifically designed for Ibanez to have a deeper tone in the neck position while retaining a bright timbre in the bridge. By adjusting the Blend control, a wide range of sounds are accessible before any EQ is applied. Equalization controls include a 3-band Active EQ with a bypass switch and a mid frequency switch for the ultimate in tone management.

I have owned a sr 1405, a sc805 very good guitars, the Norstands on the 1405 just didn't have that growl I wanted, I was out of town at a music store and saw a Prestige, asked the sales manager about it, he if you play it, you'll want it, was he right !! !, the quality and sound of this bass is excellent, growl with the custom Barts is off the charts, the neck and feel superb I wondered what the big deal was between the Premium series and the Prestige series I know now, sold both Ibanezes saved ordered and finally got it last week, its an excellent Bass, you will not be disappointed been playing Bass 30 years, check one out..

Craftsmanship and materials are A1, plus it is a very good looking instrument. I like that the neck pickup is different than the bridge pickup. It offers a fuller, more versatile sound. The pre-amp is killer. For live gigs it is easy to find my spot in the mix and cut right through. This thing just sings!

This thing was hanging in my local guitar center for months and I always found an excuse to make it over there and find an employee who would bring it down and let me fiddle with it. After purchase however, this instrument truly Ensnared me with its' charm. My other ibanez's (755 and 506), not throwaway basses by any means, felt like toys after prolonged exposure to playing this fabulous instrument. I've gigged, recorded, and jammed on this thing and I have to say that it's by and large my current favorite bass. I've only had to set it up once in 18 months after multiple string changes and hundreds of play hours and the intonation and action is still pristine, the fingerboard is both aesthetically pleasing and feels amazing on the hands, and the pickups run really well with my rig. DISCLAIMER: I am very much an Ibanez-exclusive purchaser. I play other basses on a whim, but this review is in reference to other Ibanez products and may not meet your standards if you're a hardcore fan of a particular brand
