Ibanez PNB15E Parlor Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar Light Violin Sunburst

Despite the compact body size, the PNB15E Parlor bass guitar has an impressively powerful acoustic volume. The "open pore" finish, as well as the Spruce top, Sapele back and sides, contribute greatly to the overall tone. The neck joint being located at the 12th fret means the bridge connects at the center of the lower bout, which maximizes sonic resonance.
The "open pore" finish creates a more vintage feel, allowing the natural texture of the wood to be felt. The satin finish of the mahogany neck helps facilitate fast and smooth position changes. The Ibanez Under Saddle Pickup accurately reproduces the acoustic nature of the bass, while the Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp provides the extra punch of onboard EQ, and the convenience of an easy-to-read digital tuner located on the upper bout. Case sold separately.

Bass had a few high frets; I leveled/crowned/polished them; seem ok now; bad splintering of bridge plate (when drilled at factory); bridge pin holes are tight; when I changed strings I had to buff the ball end of string and slightly enlarge the pin holes; need to use short scale smaller gauge strings. Plays with ok volume unplugged if using thick pick, but slight rattle and G string sounds a lot less bass then other 3 strings ; sounds ok thru small bass amp. For price, not a bad deal. I'd probably get a Taylor mini-bass next time.

I've used this for a couple of small performances so far and it's been great. The pickup works pretty well. I did have a couple of issues with it cutting out while playing through the same speakers as another guitar. Feedback was also a concern.
