Description

The Ibanez Gio GSR105EX 5-String Bass Guitar offers the famous Ibanez Soundgear playability and tone at an incredible value. This lightweight basswood-bodied bass provides a modern alternative for bassists seeking premium performance without the premium price tag. With its fast maple neck and rosewood fretboard, the GSR105EX invites hours of comfortable play. The exposed pole piece PPD5 pickup delivers a warm, punchy sound with rich sustain—ideal for a range of music styles. The Gio GSR105EX gives you iconic Ibanez style, comfort and tone for a song.

PPD5 Pickup Produces Massive Tone

The GSR105EX features a high-output PPD5 pickup that generates a muscular tone with singing sustain. Simply adjust the master volume and tone knobs to shape your sound. Roll off the tone for a deep, throaty growl or open it up for a bright, articulate snap. The pickup's exposed pole pieces provide visual accent to the bass's understated good looks while also allowing unimpeded string vibration for optimal resonance.

Fast Maple Neck Plays Like a Dream

The GSR105EX's maple neck and rosewood fretboard make navigating the fingerboard a joy. A slim, lightweight profile with a flat 12" radius encourages speedy runs and wide stretches with equal ease. Dot inlays provide clear fretboard reference points while black hardware and a matching headstock give this bass a sleek, cohesive look.

Iconic Body Shape Built for Comfort

Like all Ibanez Soundgear basses, the GSR105EX features an ergonomic body shape contoured for playing comfort. A deep cutaway provides easy access to the upper frets, while sculpted edges and a tapered heel offer a natural feel whether seated or standing. This lightweight bass reduces fatigue for long gigs and practice sessions.

Premium at an Affordable Price

While the GSR105EX bears an entry-level price, its quality, tone and playability rival those of basses costing much more. The Ibanez Gio GSR105EX 5-String Bass Guitar, bringing the legendary Ibanez Soundgear experience to budget-conscious players everywhere.

Sharp Bass - Literally

Highs: big sound from the single bridge-position open-pole humbucker - plenty of bottom with a distinctive upper-end growl; very playable Ibanez SG neck; sounded good through every amp I played it through; great value Lows: the ends of the frets about midway up the neck on the G-string side were not filed off flush - those things were sharp enough to slice up two of the fingers on my left hand pretty good Verdict: great sound, very playable design, Purple-Heart playing experience. Be sure it's set up right, and it will be a very useful guitar.

I use it daily for practice, the pickups get a mid muddy when I use too much distortion, but thats a me problem. Its also pretty lightweight, which im not too comfortable with. Despite the cons, there are many pros. The instrument has good pickup qnd craftsmanship. The simple controls are very good for any beginner.

  • I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Definitely a great bass for the price. Purchased in Dec 2019 for my first bass. I wouldn't have wanted to learn on any other bass! It fit very well in most circumstances especially once I received my Ampeg SCR-DI to add tonal flavors to it! The nut was cut a bit too low so the A string buzzed on the 1-3 frets. Pair this bass with a Preamp DI and a 15 inch sub and you'll shake the whole building

  • Awesome little bass for the price.

Couldn't believe the sound that comes from this little beast. For the price, you can't beat the quality.

  • A decent five string bass for the money.

i needed a five string bass that did not cost too much. This one checked off a few of my 'boxes'. It has five strings, it is passive and needs no batteries and it came out of the box decently set up for a very inexpensive one, a feature of Ibanez! If you need a five string bass and do not have the funds for a 'good' one, this is a more than reasonable choice. i heartily recommend it!

  • Great bass for the price

I'm using this in a home recording studio. I'm a guitar player doing bass tracks. I'm not a bass player by profession. This bass works fine for me with one pickup because basically the Tascam 32 controls what the final track sound is going to be. This to me seems like an entry level bass and for the price, you can't beat it. I'm happy. I traded in the 4-string version of this bass which served me for 10 years.
