collapse expand iconDescription

The GIO series was developed for players who want Ibanez quality, but working within a limited budget. Subject to many of the same rigorous inspection standards and warranty coverage as other Ibanez guitars, GIO guitars offer among the best sound, style, and playability in their class. This principled approach has not only put better guitars in the hands of new players—it’s been responsible for launching numerous new musical careers around the world.

The GRG131DX begins with the iconic Ibanez RG series body, constructed of poplar. It’s then fitted with a maple GRG neck sporting a treated New Zealand pine fretboard, Medium frets, and sharktooth inlays in red. Electronics include two Infinity R pickups with a 3-way selector switch for a variety of tonal options, right at your fingertips. Case sold separately.

It's a great guitar, I have nothing but love for Ibanez . Although this guitar I would not recommend for beginners, not that it's not easy to learn on it's just not a neck profile and care level needed that a beginner should have to take on. I recommend taking an extra few minutes to take the plastic off the pick guard and to break in the neck. Something I did not like was when I plugged it in it would have a screeching noise when I was not touching the strings might be because of high gain but that's what this guitar should be able to handle.

  • Nice guitar for the money.

Just got the guitar about a week ago. I have been playing consistently for about a year and on and off for 20.So far this seems like a good value. Lots of tone options with the five way switch. I'm taking it to a local luthier this week to get it set up and I can only imagine it will play even better after that. Love the white finish. For the record, the description says it has a "treated New Zealand pine" fretboard, but those have been replaced on the 2020 and 2021 models with purpleheart. My guitar was built in October 2020 and has the purpleheart fretboard (which is just dark not purple) either fretboard is fine I just wanted to point out that the guitars shipping as of February 2021 are less than 6 months old and and I doubt they're shipping 18month old units along side current production models.

It's red, but it may end up being a bit lighter than in the picture due to lighting.
