I've been recording and playing the guitar for 43 years. This guitar was the 31st guitar of my life but my very first nylon string. I bought it primarily as a travel guitar so that I wouldn't have to take my prize hollow body electric on vacation trips. I wanted a nylon string so that it would play more like an electric than a steel string. The guitar plays like a classical but well in spite of the wide neck. However it is much easier to finger pick a wide neck than a narrow one. I think the guitar sounds very good, given the price. To my surprise it sounds really nice when recorded direct in may DAW using Sonar 6.0. Even though I bought if for a travel/practice guitar, I'm using it extensively on my next CD and on a Christmas CD I'm working on. The finish job on the neck is rough but given that I paid $320 brand new with a brand new hard-shell case, I think it is a very good deal indeed. If that is your price range, this is lot of guitar for the money. However it has really got me wanting a high end nylon string, but that's the allure of guitars isn't it. I picked this guitar over several others in the $400 - $500 range. It sounded sweeter.

This guitar has a good overall acoustic sound and I like that it has a truss rod adjustment, but the electronics shorted out and ate several batteries before I gave up trying to do some repair on it (I can't get to where I think the problem is). It also had prickly fret ends that had to be filed down to make it comfortable to play, and I replaced the cheap plastic bridge with synthetic bone, which vastly improved the sound. Five of the six tuning keys work fine, but the B string turnkey goes thru a very stiff travel spot as you turn it. Overall it was a huge disappointment, and I will be donating this guitar to a local charity just to get it out of the house. Much to expensive to have this many issues. Two stars, only because the acoustic tone is pleasant.

A Great Classical Guitar!
By The Lone Chicken

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA6CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
As a guitarist who has always enjoyed the "Spanish" sound of a nylon-string classical guitar, I bought an Ibanez GA6CE classical/electric guitar from Guitar Center in Toledo, OH around Christmas of 2005. The guitar plays beautifully, has perfect intonation (not surprising for Ibanez), and sounds great plugged in or unplugged. And at a great price! I highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking to add a nylon-string to their guira arsenal.

I am in Love with this Guitar!
By Laura Marie

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA6CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
There is not much more that I can add that other have not already posted however, I need to say that after playing nearly every classical that Guitar Center had in the room, I found this guitar a standout both in price, quality and tone. I have played steel string for many years and have not owned a nylon since learning to play over 30 years ago. Now that I am older and a more experienced player, my taste has drifted to classical music. I would recommend this guitar to any player beginning to advanced wanting a sweet tone and comfortable to play classical.

Amazing Guitar

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA6CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I have had my GA6CE for about 6 years now and it is still my favorite guitar. I can leave the guitar sitting in its case for a month and pick it and it will be nearly in tune, if not in tune. The guitar makes a novice player sound like they're professional. It's definitely the best purchase of all the guitars I have bought over my 20 years of playing and buying guitars. I got to thiis site by looking for another GA6CE to purchase for my nephew who is going to start taking guitar lessons soon.

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA6CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I love this guitar. I use it to teach classical guitar and I have further used it to pursue my classical guitar degree from a University and its great. Beautiful features and quality, great versatility and sound. Easy to play, great projection, and for the price compares easily to classical's thousands more. Great for intermediate and even professional classical guitarists. No complaints

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA6CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I have been looking for a reasonable priced classical cutaway w/4 band Eq. I spent about 45min in the store just amazed at the tone with and without the amp. This guitar is perfect for me and my students. I should not be surprised because I own a Ibanez AEF20CSNE that is just a joy to play and listen to. Ibanez keep it up.

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA6CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I've been playing for 5 yrs and I'm building my guitar arsenal, this Ibanez is my fourth guitar and i could not be happier with my purchase. I was actually looking at buying a cordoba but when I played and compared them together the Ibanez beat out the cordoba. beautiful finish, the wide neck makes it easy to play( great guitar for solos!) plugged in on my marshall amp sounds even better! the strings do cry out to be replace with higher quality strings though. nevertheless, easy to take around, small enough to take on trips on vaction or just being on the road. defitnitely good for all type of players; begginer, mid-level, professionals. The price is cheap and worth it all the way. plays just as good as the higher end classical guitars.

Ibanez surprised me
By mike

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA6CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
i have never been the biggest fan of Ibanez instruments. this changed my perception. the tone is indescribably beautiful for such a cheap instrument. it is strong and projects very well. only con's are no endpin for a strap (easily drillable) and the nut at the bridge is very sharp but that seems to be the case with some Ibanez's. if your on the fence, buy it. you will not be disappointed. the electronics are pretty good as well, any small ticks you have with your tone can easily be fixed with an equalizer pedal.

A Great Classical Guitar
By Javier Acevdo

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA6CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I got this baby today and I have to tell you...Wow! Its looks very nice and it sounds great both unplugged and plugged. I played it plugged with a quarter of the volume on a 15amp fender...just beautiful. Someone told me at the store that if you have a nice sounding guitar in your hands, that it will make you want to play it more often. I haven't stopped playing it. Great for someone just starting or even a more advance player. I would recommend this baby and the price was also a great deal.

To me this was the best guitar for me sounded good felt good and I was really surprised at the price.

Excellent for a beginner

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA6CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
This is an excellent choice for a beginner, and beats other guitars in its class (e.g. Cordoba, Yamaha) by a long stretch. Not the most acoustically complex sound and the electronics are just ok (not great), but on workmanship alone it doesn't get better at this price.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA6CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
This is my first classical guitar. This guitar has a very bright and unique sound and i do recommend it. However, within the first week of my purchase, the 4th fret on the sixth string started giving this twanging sound and part of the paint chipped of at the bottom of the guitar. Strangely enough, this guitar is thin enough to fit in my roadrunner electric guitar gig bag and i am taking it in for repaires on the string. The plastic nobs on the tuning system worried me but over all it is a very attractive guitar.

The Classic Classical!

Cons
Best Uses
Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA6CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
This is a remarkable axe! This is my first Ibanez and I bought it based on Ibanez's reputation for their electric guitars so I knew this would be good. It takes patience changing the classical strings but a tiny pamphlet is included, illustrating how to change and 'secure' the strings. I purchased mine in '05 and I'm not surprised to see this at a 'Top Rated' status. It's very light weight adding comfort whether lap playing or standing. The open head stock is very attractive and stays in tune just fine. The neck is wide & flat, typical for a classical guitar but still comfortable to play. The on-board equalizer/volume control adds a nice touch to your tone. The 9-volt battery is easy to change, too. It's very light weight adding comfort whether lap playing or standing. This is my first cutaway acoustic so it's awesome, allowing plenty of access to the high notes.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
