Ibanez Artist AR420 Electric Guitar - Black Mirage Gradation

Description
The Ibanez Artist AR420 electric guitar delivers a modern interpretation of a classic double-cutaway design, balancing vintage tonal character with contemporary playability. A flamed maple top over an okoume body produces a bright, resonant response with notable sustain, while the 3-piece maple neck enhances stability and overall resonance. The jatoba fretboard offers a smooth playing feel with focused midrange presence. Outfitted with Super 58 humbuckers and dual Tri-sound switches, the AR420 provides a broad tonal palette suitable for both detailed lead work and articulate rhythm playing.
Super 58 Pickups Provide Warm, Vintage-Inspired Tone
The Artist AR420 is equipped with Super 58 pickups, valued for their moderate output and warm, vintage-voiced response. They capture dynamic nuances with clarity, supporting expressive phrasing across clean and driven styles. Working in conjunction with the Tri-sound switching system, the pickups offer tonal versatility while retaining a consistent musical character.
Tri-Sound Switches Offer Three Voices per Pickup
Two Tri-sound switches give each humbucker access to series, parallel and coil-split modes, providing three distinct tonal options per pickup. This configuration makes it easy to move from full, rounded humbucker tones to brighter, single-coil-style textures, allowing players to adapt their sound to a wide range of musical settings.
Gibraltar Performer Bridge Supports Sustain and Stability
The Gibraltar Performer bridge is designed to promote rich sustain and precise intonation, while its low-profile saddles support a comfortable right-hand position. Paired with the Quik Change Classic tailpiece, string changes are fast and straightforward, helping maintain consistent setup and tuning performance during regular use.
Solid Construction with Refined Materials
A flamed maple top and okoume body give the Artist AR420 a lightweight feel with durable construction. The 3-piece maple neck adds long-term strength and resonance, and the jatoba fretboard provides a smooth, responsive playing surface. These components work together to deliver reliable performance for rehearsals, studio sessions and live applications.
Artist AR420 Delivers Versatile, Classic-Style Performance
The Ibanez Artist AR420 electric guitar is well-suited for players who want tonal flexibility and refined craftsmanship in a familiar, classic-inspired platform. With its Super 58 pickups, Tri-sound switching system and comfortable playing feel, it offers the tone, responsiveness and reliability needed across a variety of musical styles.

I just bought one and I love it. I've had several Ibanez guitars throughout the years and have always found them to be great guitars. I was thinking about buying an Epiphone window but I think this guitar sounds and plays better. You can't go wrong with one of these.

What's the difference between the pickups in parallel verses series setting?
Parallel wiring adds transparency and clarity to the tone. In contrast, wiring two pickups in series produces a longer path with increased resistance, adding volume while preventing the highest frequencies from getting through. Series is louder and fatter.submitted2 years ago
