Another Artcore Victory

I wanted a 12-string sound for band use. I thought I'd fake it with a MicroPOG, but a 12-string can't really be faked. I tried an acoustic-electric 12 but didn't like the big chunky neck. And I couldn't afford a Rickenbacker, so it was Ibanez Artcore to the rescue! Pros: It's not neck-divy, it's very lightweight, and it feels like quality. Tuning machines work well, pots have decent rolloff, binding looks good all around. Pickups sound decent & balanced. All reasonable quality is what I'm saying. Cons: the nut width appears to be exactly as wide as my (6-string) SG Pro, so there's not a lot of room for fingering end chords. Bridge doesn't have separate adjusters for the secondary strings. Conclusion: there's not a lot of variables with 12's, so no wasted extras here. The skinny neck will take some getting used to, but I'm getting the riffs I wanted. The six-saddle bridge isn't such a big concern to me (12-strings can't be perfectly tuned anyway), but there is one available for $150 via online parts sellers. Of course, I just got it today so maybe I'll change my mind later, but at this point it does just what I wanted: t sounds like a 12. plays decent & isn't a log. I will have to switch it to lefty because Artcore doesn't make a lefty 12, but I'm convinced it's worth the effort. Rondo's custom shop would cost twice as much & required a five month wait, so thank you GC & Artcore

won't stay in tune

this thing will never stay in tune for very long, the color combined with the binding, and ridiculous headstock is garish, bigtime buyers remorse. the only reason to keep this red atrocity and not dump it on someone else immediately is to use it for early morning quiet practice in an apartment building, and testing what body size, style, and nut width/neck profiles works for me.

The feel of the narrow neck surprised me, given that I have relatively small hands, but now that I have adjusted, it is very playable. Crank up the reverb, and you chime and jangle with the best of them. Finish details are excellent, and noticeably better than some more expensive electric 12-strings I played. Likewise the overall playability and sound. Definitely a keeper.

Purchase this electric 12 string to use for a variety of songs that need the sound effect this guitar produces. Played a gig this past week and the Artcore AS7312 provided that sound I was looking for. Not an expensive instrument; however, action is good and I am most pleased with my purchase.

Wow! This guitar is awesome! The price can't be beat for the quality you receive. I use this guitar for personal use, but the sounds that come out makes me want to perform in front of other people. The color is beautiful, the feel and weight are just right. It comes preset up, but I'm picky so I lowered the action. You don't need to, it plays well the way it comes. This is a hollow body electric guitar that you can play unplugged, because the sound is pretty load. Plugged in is even better. I will and have tried to sell all my friends to buy a guitar like this one. No doubt a great addition to your collection.

use guitar for rhythm and lead; good action, well made, great finish; pairs of strings may be a little to close together, or maybe its just my fat fingers, any way i love it.

Excellent value and instrument Showed up in perfect condition although there were two broken strings. Didn't matter, I had a set of D'Addario 10/46's ready to go for it. I would recommend this guitar to anyone. Beautifully bound neck and body. Set up perfect; Great action. Thanks Guitar Center!

There really is no difference. It's about 8 - 8.5 lbs. Yes. it is. That's a lot of metal at the top. There's nothing to be done about.

What case or gig bag are people using? I'm having a hard time locating one. Overall length is an issue for a guitar case.
