Ibanez

collapse expand iconDescription

For a decade now, Ibanez has energized the hollowbody segment with a wide range of designs—from rockin’ hybrids to straight-up jazz boxes. With the introduction of its Expressionist line, Ibanez has begun yet another chapter in the story of its acclaimed Artstar series.

Built with tonewoods selected for their beauty as well as their musicality, the Expressionist line covers the wide range of styles for which Ibanez hollowbody and semi-hollowbodies are known. The full-hollow AF95FM features flamed maple top, back and sides, and handsome ivory binding on the body, headstock and fingerboard. An expertly crafted 3-piece maple/mahogany set-in neck ensures body liveliness and is fitted with a rich ebony fretboard with silky contrasting pearl block inlays. The tortoiseshell colored pickguard provides a gorgeous appearance.

Jazz fans will recognize the Ibanez original Super 58 Custom pickups—the preferred pickup of George Benson, Pat Metheny and John Scofield used in their own signature models. These pickups provide warm, balanced articulation and excellent response. Super 58s are at home in variety of genres.

I play Jazz Standards. I have been using an Ibanez as 153 which works very well for me I have avoided the acoustic archtop for a while due to the darker sound. I found the semi better for playing a variety of styles and not have to worry about feedback etc... Starting to miss the acoustic jazz sound I purchased the Ibanez 95FM.So far I am impressed. The guitar appears to be a good acoustic archtop for the price. I must have been lucky, no rattles or fret buzzes, low action. Good mellow balanced tone and full sound. Light & easy playability. Used it on a rehearsal with others and sounded great. No feedback, however, we were not playing at a loud volume. In closing appears to be a good acoustic archtop.. Don't think you will do better for the price.

I play finger style in all genres, and this guitar fits my needs completely. The tone with no effects played through a DI box into a mixer is pristine and beautiful. It arrived set up within factory specs, which seem a little high for me. I will lower them a bit. I will never buy an over priced, name brand guitar again. I own Gibsons, Fenders, and others. This guitar is higher quality than any of them for a fifth of the price. Ibanez is the best value for your money.

  • Ibanez is still the leader in hollow body electrics.

Sounds great acoustically and amplified. Was looking for a jazz box, and Ibanez exceeded my expectations.

I was surprised to see imperfections in the laminate and binding. I guess at that price point the guitar is OK.

I bought this last summer during a sale. I got the guitar for just under $600, tax included. The ad said that a hardshell case was included. I think that was a mistake, but GC honored the ad. I haven't made any adjustments to the guitar. The strings are a little high and there is some fret buzz at times. But the guitar sounds nice and it's fun to play. It stays in tune very well, and I like the flat wound strings. I saw a picture of Wes Montgomery playing a very similar-looking guitar. I don't sound like him, but I really enjoy playing mine.

All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 12 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 7.5

Your description above indicates that this guitar, af95fm Ibanez, is solid wood. I can't imagine a hollowbody at this price range being solid wood. Please clarify and if it is laminate then you must change the description to correctly represent the product. Thank you, Dennis
