Finally took my own advice!!!
I've actually lost count of how many 12 strings I've purchased over the years, but there have been a lot. I've always been captivated by their melodic sound, especially when you couple them with right songs. Anyway, for years now, I've been looking for a 12 that didn't cost an arm and a leg, that wasn't too big, but had a big enough sound. For probably the last three or four months I've been playing with this Ibanez every time I'd visit my local Johnson City, NY GC. It fit about everything I was looking for: easy to play, great action, decent sound plugged and unplugged, decent quality. It even has a great little built in tuner that I've never had on a 12 string, and man is that handy and accurate too! I really like the smaller body. It adds to its ease of play and, very importantly, makes it lighter; no shoulder burn with this one. I finally asked myself what I was waiting for and went ahead and bought it and have hardly put it down since I brought it home. Not sure what else to say about it other than to take it from someone who's been playing and loving 12 strings for nearly 50 years, this guitar is a great value for it's price.

Nice guitar but defective battery port /jack
Loved the look, price, sound, and feel of this guitar. Tried it out in the store and was ready to buy the floor model, but luckily I asked for a 9V battery to test the electronics at the counter. Oddly the battery port fits fine into the guitar when empty, but the moment you put a battery in it it will not stay shut and pops open rendering your electronics useless. Me and the sales rep at the front figured this was had to be a fluke and he ordered a new one to be delivered to my house. Four days later it arrived. I played it for about an hour out of the box without issue (set up was great, sounded great acoustic) and then I decied to check the electronics. Sure enough, the exact same issue occured when I tried to fit a 9V in the battery port. When a battery was actually in it, it would not stay shut. No tuner, no electronics. Ten minutes later I was back at my local GC. The tech inspected it an came to the same conclusion as I did after trying 5 different brand batteries to see if that made a difference- it's defective. He recommended I return it and try another product. In short it plays nice, sounds nice, and looks nice but if it happened on 2 guitars it has to be happening on more of them. I'm sure you could duck tape it or find a way to keep it closed but this should not be an issue on a $350+ guitar. 3 stars.

I purchased this guitar a few weeks ago. Absolutely love it! Did some research before I bought it, and just about everyone praised it. For a smaller guitar, it has a nice and full sound. Solidly built and very playable. Built-in tuner is a plus. Looks beautiful. To ease the string tension, I have it tuned to D standard, which sounds perfect. Highly recommended. And great price. especially for a 12 string.

This is my first 12 string. I saw several negative reviews about the guitar staying tuned and the battery popping out. I have had the guitar for 4 days and only tuned it day one, the built in tuner is a game changer. The sound is a bit tinny but I still love the sound. I love the action, it is very much like my Guild. I play in church and would not hesitate to play it in a service. The guitar is fun to play and you cannot beat the value.
Good beginner 12-string

Ibanez has always had great budget alternatives and this one is no exception. 12-strings can be difficult since you need to press 2 strings down simultaneously but this one has beautifully low action. The tone is pretty - I'd recommend to arpeggiate - play each note. It sounds magical.

How long does it take for the guitar to be ready to leave the shop? You do service prior to leaving shop correct, make any adjustments needed on unit? Hard shell cases are available correct? Like to get everything done in one trip. Buy service ready for play hit the road and play it. Lol.
I’m very sorry. I don't understand your question .This will ship from our warehouse. The case you need is the Ibanez AEQHC Hardshell Case. We do not set up new instruments.submitteda year ago

what strings are recommended for this guitar? Mine sounds a bit thin and I wonder if the strings that came with it are too light gauge for it.
1) .010/.010/.014/.014/.023/.008/.030/.012/.039/.018/.047/.027. 2) I think Ibanez put the correct strings on it.submitteda year ago

Rather than the usual eq controls, the picture shows one labeled "shape." Can you explain what that is and how it works?
A "shape" is a mid range curve. It's like a scoop. Very effective.submitted3 years ago
