For the price, this melodica really carries its value. I've had mine for about a year now, it sounds great, the key action is a bit sticky occasionally and the reeds just a bit dull or shrill sometimes, but it's perfect for beginners or people just curious about melodicas like me. If want an affordable melodica to mess around with, look no further.

I bought this about a week ago off of the online section of Guitar Center. I love it, it's really a great little instrument. My band likes to play in acoustic venues, so this was a great instrument for me to play acoustically. For $$ it's a sound investment for trying out an instrument. The description of the instrument doesn't mention the nice backside handle which is very convenient for standing and playing. The carrying case is very nice and it comes with two mouthpieces, one of which being a longer one so you can see your hands and one that is that is shown in the picture above. I have noticed some minor intonation problems in certain keys and that the spit valve doesn't really help much, but for a student instrument with an unbeatable price, I'm very happy with it. For a student melodica it's 5 stars, for a serious musician, it's about 3 stars. If you were someone like me who wanted to try out an instrument before making a serious commitment, this is a great way to go. If or once you become serious about playing this, you will definitely want to upgrade. You get what you pay for, but with this melodica, you get a little more.

I was so excited when my melodica finally arrived in the mail, which was only about 5 days after I purchased it online, and it wasn't very expensive either. I've never played the melodica before, but I have a piano and play by ear, so the melodica wasn't difficult to pick up. This particular instrument is rather small and lightweight and the case is very convenient for taking it places. The extension hose does look a little funny while playing, but it makes it easier to play with two hands. The sound of this melodica blends wonderfully with guitar, but not with my family telling me to shut up when I play during the night.(:

I'm an active piano and sax player and I was glad I was able to fuse elements of both with a Melodica. This is the first melodica I've every played on and its grand. I mean I'm sure the professional brands are a lot more "precise" and I"m sure you can bring out more dynamics with those, but this student version does justice. Its amazing if its your first melodica. I can still play mellow and sweet tones if I really detail my breath and I can play crazy loud stuff with more air. Its harder to play when you start playing chords with more than 4 or 5 keys (not sure if you'll have this problem with the professional ones). Overall, this instrument is fun and powerpacked and awesome for its price. Rock on, fools.

slick case and keyboard - the instrument looks and sounds great. the melodica is perfect for pounding out quick melodies when there's no piano near. my only problem with the instrument is that one or two keys stick at certain times, and others take a little more air to get a crisp sound. all in all a great purchase.

My boyfriend plays bass in a band, but also is always on the lookout for interesting, and fun instruments to add to his collection. I couldn't afford a lot this x-mas, but still wanted to get him something that was fun and a total surprise. This gift was perfect! He was really excited about it and everyone has a blast when they come over and fiddle around with playing. The case is REALLY nice and all the pieces were there and work great. The sound is old timey accordion-like and so much fun. I found lessons online and my bf can't wait to get started. You really can't go wrong with such a unique and fun gift or piece to add to your collection! :) Cheers!
