Hofner
Description

The Hofner Ignition Series Left-Handed Short-Scale Violin Bass lets left-handed bassists experience the iconic tone that defined '60s pop rock. Based on Hofner's original 1906 violin bass made famous by Paul McCartney, this hollowbody electric bass produces a warm, thudding tone reminiscent of an upright double bass. Its lightweight, compact body and short 30" scale make it extremely comfortable to play during long studio sessions or energetic live shows.

Flatwound Strings Provide a Smooth, Mellow Sound

The Ignition Series violin bass is strung with flatwound strings that produce a smooth, mellow tone perfect for vintage-style pop, rock and reggae. The flatwound strings have a warm, thumpy timbre that helps emulate the sound of an upright bass. Their smooth feel also allows for effortless slides and vibrato.

Teacup Knobs Offer Classic Style

Vintage-styled teacup knobs provide an authentic look while giving players control over volume and tone. The knobs have a textured grip so they're easy to adjust on the fly during performances. This classic design complements the Ignition Series Short-Scale Violin Bass's retro aesthetics.

Hollow Body Construction Produces Full Lows

The fully hollowbody design provides rich, resonant low end that gives the Ignition Series violin bass a deep, thundering tone. Despite its small size, the hollowbody construction allows this short-scale bass to produce massive basslines suitable for any genre. Two f-holes on either side of the fretboard let the tone breathe, enhancing resonance and projection.

Vintage Style Meets Modern Playability

While the Ignition Series Short-Scale Violin Bass takes its inspiration from an early 20th-century design, Hofner updated it with modern features for contemporary playability. Its slim, contoured body and shallow D-profile neck allow for comfortable play, while the cutaway provides access to higher frets. Now left-handed bassists can enjoy a legendary bass with exceptional tone and vintage vibe.
