Wall Hanger is great, but ...

The product works as expected, securely holds my guitar. The 3 hole design on metal base is significantly a greater value, and more secure, that the wood base versions. The biggest con is that the securing hardware is cheap, if not going directly into a wood stud. I would highly recommend purchasing heavy duty anchoring systems to provide greatest support. I own 5 of these hangers, purchased over nearly a decade, and not had a single failure or fall/drop. I was however, quite perplexed with the GC store inventory online. Travelled nearly an hour away to pickup the item, instore as shown online. BUT myself and the store's manager could not find the item after 45 minutes of looking throughout the store. My trust in the online in-store inventory is quite low.

Like product, but inconvenienced by mounting hardware

Like other gravity mounts this is a solid build. I like the firm foam for back neck and plastic/rubber arms. The rotating stops work well. But Hercules fails to provide self tapping screw-in anchors or other suitable anchors for when you can't hit a stud. Also the triangular layout makes it impossible for many or most to hit a stud with more than two screws. Even though guitars weigh 5 to 12 pounds and these anchors rate for 60 mox. They only provide anchors for a brick wall. My guitar is 1400 dollars. I would never risk my finish with this sort of mount against a brick wall for starters. But another reviewer not knowing better reported using the masonry anchors provided in drywall his vintage Fender, it fell to the floor and chipped the paint. I think what I just wrote is a fair review pro and con. My intent only to inform guitarists like myself. But Hercules complained about this same fair 3 star rating on a popular seller site and got it pulled. Hercules was one company with a 5 star rating there. And now I guess I know how they maintain that rating. I returned the item. I am hoping Guitar Center will let this review stand. Once installed Hercules is a very good wall mount. It gets the job done. Other companies provide self tap drywall anchors. They cost pennies. I live 35 minutes from my nearest hardware store. I should be able to install this simple product straight out of the box.

    This product has a great design all accept for one major flaw. The mount on this product makes I just about impossible to put in any part of your home! The screws are put in a triangular position and the top two screws are place just the right amount apart so that they couldn't fit around a stud. I returned mine and bought a simpler one with screws directly above each other.

    The holding yoke is great and very sturdy. The supplied mounting hardware is JUNK! I refused to use it. What a terrible way to represent a quality product to save a couple of bucks. 1 star for the Junk hardware 5 stars for for the yoke. You can do better Hercules.

    So, I literally just made the biggest mistake of my life. I bought a Strat and have nowhere to put it. It's kind of like when you do it with your wife and accidentally make a kid and then your like " what have I done?". If I ordered this today, would it get here pretty soon?
