This boom is the bomb!
If you're looking for a quiet boom that holds any position, this is the one you need. I've had mine for over a year now, and it has stood up admirably to my 'gentle ministrations', that is to say, I abuse booms. I just took it off a tilted table and moved it to a new desk. It is not the worse for wear and now stands up straight even though it has been leaning to the side for a year with a heavy mic on it. The ability to hide the cord inside the structure is a plus, making your setup look that much cleaner. All in all, I give it a 10 out of 5. It is expensive, but it stands up to abuse and stays quiet as a mouse.

Don't take it apart
The padding inside the box was made from super flimsy cardboard that immediately deformed after taking the stand out. It did a good job protecting the stand during shipment, but I won't be able to use it again. Also, there was no instruction manual included on how to use the thing. Despite this, I was able to get it set up and for a few days I was really happy with it. The problem though, is that while the upper arm moved and worked great, the lower arm was extremely difficult to move. I finally got fed up with it and thought maybe I could adjust the springs by taking it apart. That was a mistake. When you take it apart, the internal springs snap close and there is very little you can do to get them to open again. Which means now I have to go buy a new stand.

The PL-2T looks pretty nice if you get by the misalignments and the tape that is required to hold the plastic covers onto the clangy somewhat wobbly frame. I can't believe the audacity of Heil or anyone who sells these for a hundred bucks. It's a nice idea but function is sacrificed for form. The clamp is pretty much a joke and I would not recommend using it around anything of value because it's an accident waiting to happen. That said, it doesn't sag while supporting a 12.5 oz. mic and has a pretty long reach.
Fantastic product, high quality, definitely worth the money!

I purchased this for my home recording studio (I prepare voiceovers for a local radio station). Glad I opted for the higher quality boom from Heil. Paired it with my PR-40. Great product!

Holds a Neumann TLM 49 rock steady. Love that there are no external springs and the covered cable trough makes the installation look tidy. Very happy with it.

I bought this boom based on the reviews it had received and it's lived up to them perfectly. Easy to maneuver, stays right where you put it, great reach, everything I had hoped for. If you're looking for a boom the hidden cords and springs in this make it a clean and easy to use tool don't hesitate at all, and GC's price is outstanding.
