This book was used as one of the textbooks in my composition class at school, and I must say I am quite impressed. The chapters/lessons in the book follow a very logical progression, with examples, diagrams, and tips. It covers notation, chord building, different scales and modes, key structure, harmony, melody and a myriad of other topics. At the end of each chapter, there are problems and skill checks based on previous material and material learned in the chapter. Answers are given in the back of the book. It is also designed so that no prior music experience is necessary, nor is it instrument specific. An absolute must.
