Clearance Hagstrom Alvar Compact Elf Warrior Transparent Wild Cherry Black Pickguard

Description
This semi-hollowbody is made of multi-ply maple, with a Canadian hard maple set neck. It features the magic combination of a thin profile with very low action, thanks to the H-Expander truss rod. The Hagstrom Alvar uses a GraphTech Black Tusq XL 43 mm nut. The fretboard is Resinator—a sustainable wood/composite with the tone of ebony, but more consistent. It’s lined with 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid block inlays.
Dual Hagstrom HJ-50 alnico-5 humbuckers go from full crunch to pristine clean; the passive RC-Circuit maintains the highs at lower levels on both volume pots. Two tone controls allow the Alvar to make the transition from heavenly to hell-raising with ease.
Strings pass over a long-travel tune-o-matic bridge for accurate intonation before anchoring in the trapeze tailpiece. The Hagstrom-designed tuners have an 18:1 gear ratio for even further precision.
Despite its meager size, the Hagstrom Alvar Compact Elf Warrior offers an exceptional feel with sounds to match.

Great guitar, especially with different pickups!

I love this guitar, but didn't like the stock pickups very well. The neck was a little muddy and the bridge a bit harsh. I swapped them out with a set of Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers, and it now sounds incredible. It's beautiful and well made, and very comfortable to play with the smaller body size. This one is a keeper. Highly recommend it.

Had many many Gibsons including high dollar custom shop Les Pauls and 335s, and a Collings. Sold all the Gibsons and the Collings because it just got to be a headache owning guitars that expensive. Now I'm shopping for value. The Alvar is not quite in the Gibson Custom league, but with a good set up gets you about 90% of the way there at about 25% of the cost. Others may disagree, but I'm having more fun playing the Alvar than I did with any of the Gibsons or the Collings. Pickups might benefit from an upgrade at some point, but I'm happy with them so they'll do for now. You probably need to play a few to find a good one - that's been my experience with many of the imports, and I played several before selecting the one I bought - but if you find a good one it's a great guitar and tremendous value.
