Guild

Description

Based on the P-240 Memoir, the P-250E Memoir is a small-bodied parlor guitar built with a solid spruce top and pau ferro back and sides. Modified with a 14 fret-to-body neck like the DS-240, the P-250E offers a brighter tone, with more attack as well as better access to upper frets. A vintage-inspired mother of pearl rosette and Guild Script Logo pay homage to the classic styling of instruments from the 1920s, while a Guild Fishman-designed GT-1 pickup system delivers stage-ready performance.

This is a fine little instrument. It seems to tune up well and ring sweet and true even during difficult chord changes. I have owned much more expensive guitars that require you to compromise the B string to find a happy medium that's close enough for E or D. This guitar is good for both right off the rack no set up required. Love it!

I received my new P250 in some sad playable shape. I realize it's made in china but it should never have left the Guild production line the way I received it. The high action was almost unplayable, Sharp fret ends, and the tuning machines were very difficult to fine tune. I know how to fix these issues. I lubed the tuning machines and it helped but not perfect. They had a little bit of play before the gear would catch. After a week of working on this little guitar, I finally have it playing nicely. 1: Replaced Tuning machines with Matching Nickel Grovers. Huge improvement! 2: Sanded 2MM off the bone saddle with more room to spare. 3: Replaced plastic bridge pins with Bone bridge pins - these gave it a slight warmer tone. 4: New strings! 5: I'll get around to smoothing out the fret ends at some point. I bought it on clearance sale and it will be my Travel parlor guitar while The Gibson L00 stays home and safe. The Fishman pickup is not the best sounding, maybe some day I will upgrade to a LR Baggs system. It's good bright sounding little guitar for the under a $1000 price range but be prepared to pay a luthier to set it up.

I have always avoided electric and acoustic guitars that utilize Pao Ferro mostly because it looks crappy...well I played this little guy took it home and it sounded even better there ! Never thought to check what it was made of because it was on sale...dark stain/finish bright sound!

After 6 months I love it more every day. It was playable off the rack, but an action adjustment and a warmer set of strings really brought it to life. No booming low end, but the sound is well balanced and articulate - perfect for the couch.

  • Beautiful little gem.

When playing a small body guitar like this one you can't have the mindset of playing a dred. This guitar is articulate and intimate causing a pure and personal sound that reaches the heart not just the ears. Nice!

This guitar has a very appealing look and body size, other than that it's one of the worst sounding instruments I've played. The neck is fat and uncomfortable, the action was terrible, it feels cheap. Very disappointing. I've noticed this water logged and dead sound coming from many of the overseas Guild instruments.
