collapse expand iconDescription

When you play chunk rhythm, finger-style, bottleneck or anything else, the all-mahogany deluxe-appointed G9240 Alligator Biscuit Roundneck resonator guitar projects its distinctively swampy tones all the way to the back door of any dance hall. Like all fine Gretsch resonator guitars, the vital feature of the G9240 is the all-new Gretsch "Ampli-Sonic" diaphragm (resonator cone). Hand-spun in Eastern Europe from nearly 99-percent pure aluminum, the Ampli-Sonic diaphragm yields an impressive quality and volume of tone.

Nice looking but way out of intonation! The bridge isn't the best. Wish I had saved up for a more expensive model.

Look up "Rich Men North of Richmond" on YT for the viral hit from Oliver. He used this guitar in most, if not all, of his songs. Thinking of buying one just for that reason.

If I could make changes to the guitar I would have a larger nut width (1-7/8"), longer body length, and deeper body. Those specs describe a National El Trovador (except the El Trovado has a 1-3/4" nut like the Alligator). Most National single cone, biscuit bridge guitars have the wider nut but shallower body. Most have a longer body length. But since a National resonator costs about 7X more, I'm very happy with the Alligator.
