"The Black Phoenix is the Big Kahuna. This guitar is just wow! It's got a longer scale and that is really helpful in the upper register when you are playing up high you just have more room up there. Its so clean sounding. It's got the full 17" body and the new pickups. But unlike a Falcon, the Phoenix does not have the tone controls. It's a little clearer, a little louder. It's just a beautiful guitar. We just changed a couple things and added all the modern updates. And the silver sparkle binding on the black ... I mean, yeah, it's just cool. It rocks my world." - Brian Setzer

As a guy who has been a guitarist for decades, I have mainly played jazz in a small quartet, trio, or chord-melody solo gigs for the past 20 years or so. When I was recently invited to play a rockabilly-style gig, I purchased this Gretsch Brian Setzer Phoenix and it is a real beauty! Flawless craftsmanship, beautiful tone, nice comfortable fingerboard, and the pickups translate the rich hollow body guitar tones into craftable tones. So far, I have used it in gigs to play rockabilly and even some jazz. I can see that this guitar will support many diverse styles of playing and I look forward to exploring those possibilities and through playing more venues with it. I can recommend this guitar.
