Gretsch G5427TG Electromatic: Vintage Style Meets Modern Sound

The limited-edition Gretsch G5427TG Electromatic hollowbody single-cut electric guitar delivers the iconic Gretsch sound with upgraded features for today’s players. Combining a laminated maple body with trestle bracing, dual FT-5E Filter'Tron pickups, and a Bigsby B60 vibrato tailpiece, the G5427TG offers a bold yet refined tone and style. Finished in a striking Midnight Sapphire with gold hardware, this guitar is as visually stunning as it is sonically versatile. Whether you're chasing classic Gretsch twang or experimenting with modern sounds, the G5427TG has you covered.

Authentic Gretsch Tone With FT-5E Filter'Tron Pickups

At the heart of the G5427TG are its FT-5E Filter'Tron pickups, which deliver the punchy, articulate tone that Gretsch guitars are known for. These pickups provide tight bass, crisp highs, and scooped mids for a balanced sound that's perfect for everything from rockabilly to jazz. The pickups are also highly feedback-resistant, allowing for higher gain without unwanted noise. A 3-way toggle switch lets you select the bridge pickup, neck pickup, or both, giving you a wide tonal palette to explore.

Versatile Tone Controls for Any Style

The G5427TG features upgraded controls for precision sound shaping. A master volume control with a treble-bleed circuit retains high-end clarity even at lower volumes. Individual volume controls for each pickup allow you to fine-tune the balance between the neck and bridge pickups, while the master tone control provides additional tonal versatility. Whether you’re playing jangly rhythms or searing leads, this G5427TG offers the flexibility to craft the perfect tone.

Comfortable Neck and Premium Playability

The G5427TG is built for comfort and playability. Its classic C-shaped maple neck provides a smooth and familiar feel, while the laurel fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets ensures effortless fretting and bending. The shorter 24.6" scale length makes chording and soloing easier, especially for players who prefer a slightly more compact playing experience.

Stunning Vintage-Inspired Appointments

The G5427TG doesn’t just sound great—it looks the part too. Vintage-style touches like a bound headstock, pearloid pickguard, open-back tuners, and gold hardware give this guitar a retro aesthetic. The Bigsby B60 vibrato tailpiece allows for smooth, subtle pitch bends, adding even more character to your playing. Finished in Midnight Sapphire, this guitar is a visual masterpiece that will stand out on any stage or in any collection.

Incredible value !

it's really tempting to go with a Streamliner as their price point is really attractive, however, if you can swing it save up for an Electromatic. I was fortunate to get this during a sale and got an amazing price on it. That said, this is a great starting point into the Electromatic universe. The guitar is gorgeous - the deep blue looks black in most low light environments. The gold and cobalt blue look incredible and the overall feel of it is as smooth as you'd expect. This is made in China, not Indonesia as the website said when I bought it, but quality is really high. Just because it was made in China doesn't mean it didn't get loved. Out of the box, this guitar was easy to tune and start playing - the neck was straight, stock strings pre-stretched and only loosened for shipping. The bigsby works very smoothly although I did encounter some detuning if you go hard on the trem bar. If that's your playing style consider adding a Briggsfix Bigsby stabiliser and maybe Sperzel locking tuners (EZ fit) down the road. Overall - this is a smart purchase and a great starting point into owning a Gretsch. The stock pickups sound awesome and owning this as my hollow body really compliments my solid body and acoustic guitars.

This guitar is not worth the money

I bought this guitar because I love the tone. To be fair, I still do. However, I am extremely turned off to this instrument because of the awful craftsmanship. I unscrewed the strap buttons and what do I find? Rusted, stripped screws that are impossible to remove.

Picked up one of these back in September and I still pick it up constantly to play. Just all around great craftsmanship, if you didn't even play guitar this would STILL be a great piece of art to hang in your house.

  • Looks great, plays great at a reasonable price.

The Gretsch 5427TG meets all my expectations for a hollowbody electric. I can play it without amplification and get a full sound typical of an acoustic. In that regard, it's great for practice at home.

From the first time I picked up a Gretsch guitar many years ago I've wanted one for my own. This Electromatic Hollowbody single cut with Bigsby limited edition does not disappoint. It's light enough to play for hours without getting "shoulder fatigue," has great tone and is just beautiful guitar to look at. I spent hours playing and comparing many more expensive guitars to this one and loved the sound, fret spacing and Bigsby note bending capabilities of the Gretsch as well as the price. The action was great even before I had it set up and I had a hard time putting it down while comparing it to other guitars. I have the Gretsch on a guitar stand in my music room and cannot walk by it without picking it up and playing it. I am very happy with my purchase.

  • I would recommend this guitar to anyone

This guitar plays so easily! A great guitar at a reasonable price. Tunes easilt, and if you buy quality strimgs holds a good tune with minor tweaks.

I'm a 74 year old high school math teacher and former bar band rocker, and I mostly jam with students, other teachers, and friends now. I have a '64 335 (my first electric guitar), an SG, a Telecaster, and a Stratocaster, and I finally went for a Gretsch, this Midnight Blue 5427tg. Right out of the box, I tuned it up and started playing. I love the tone and looks, and it feels great. It's definitely worth the price. My wife says it's the best sounding guitar I have.
