Great guitar at a Great price !!!!
I am 52 years old and I have been playing since I was seven years old. I'm not a pro, but I consider myself a well rounded player. I have played cheap guitars and really nice ones too. I play Bluegrass, Country, and Rock from every era. I owned a 70's Chet Atkins Super Axe and played a Country Gentleman for a while also. The new Electromatics took me back to that time in my life. This guitar is a dream to play. I would say this Gretsch is worth every penny! Fit and finish are flawless. The pickups deliver, no matter what you ask for. Clean, clear, crisp Jazzy sound to some over-driven southern Rock. They just sound great! I'm currently playing through a Fender HotRod Deluxe which I believe is a good match for the Gretsch's ability. I've also played this guitar through a Fender Twin Reverb where its tone and personality really came through. The only negative thing I can say about this guitar is the pickup toggle switch had some noise in it, and the intonation wasn't set properly when I bought it. Both issues have been rectified and I couldn't be happier. I have owned my orange Gretsch G5420T for just over 2 years now and I have never regretted my purchase. If you want a great guitar at a reasonable price and one that can do it all, the Gretsch is the one.

Huge Crack in Finish on Neck - Gretsch Denies Warranty
I have owned guitar for two years. I keep the guitar in humidity controlled room, in case or on stand. I have been using my acoustic and classical guitar for practice and playing. I decided to finally move to this guitar and play jazz/blues. The back of the neck of the guitar had a crack in finish from top of neck to the guitar. I took to Bronson Guitars who told me they had never seen anything like this and that it was a defect. Gretsch has refused to honor warranty saying I must have done it somehow. Crazy. Be careful of with this company, Gretsch was very hard to deal with and simply denies warranty. They only looked at pictures, did not even see the guitar itself and were not interested at all in making sure they don't have a quality control problem.

I really like the tone I'm able to get with the guitar. It isn't just a rockabilly or country guitar, it is very good for blues and rock, also.
Beautiful guitar, definitely a head turner.

First thing is the color, the pictures dont do it justice. Very comfortable to hold, and play but does take time getting used to that acoustic guitar feel being that's it's an electric guitar. I love everything about it except for two things 1) I wish it didn't have open gear tuners and second there's a spot where the wood is exposed and the clear finish isn't protecting but It doesn't bug me.
Yes I would buy again but not on line.

I've been learning now for a bit over 2 years. Have a few others (electric and acoustic) guitars. To me thus far this plays better and has great sound. I walked in expecting to buy Epiphone or possibly PRS but the salesman showed this Gretsch to me and sold !

Item #: J38506004003000 Being "open box", has this instrument been fully inspected and tested? I'm thinking "probably" yes, but I have to ask for an investment of this magnitude and given Gretsch's reluctance to cover things like cracks in the finish for any reason.
MINT: Gear returned in mint condition. If you're looking for a virtually new instrument in possibly less-than-perfect packaging, this is a great value. What/where's the "blemish?
Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what the blemish is. However, it would only be a minor cosmetic flaw and would not effect the guitars play ability.submitted6 years ago
