Gretsch Guitars

Description

The Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Center Block Jr. Double-Cut With Bigsby Electric Guitar cranks out scorching tone with updated features while staying true to that great Gretsch sound that's been a vital component of rock 'n' roll since its inception.

Powerful Broad'Tron Pickups

Designed specifically for the Streamliner Collection, the high-output Broad'Tron pickup delivers improved definition with tighter bass response for robust lows, pristine highs and a throaty midrange.

Lightweight Construction

A lightweight spruce center block runs the length of the body, reinforcing the top while eliminating undesired feedback for volume-friendly performance on modern stages.

Fast-Playing Neck

A fast-playing 12"radius laurel fingerboard with elegant pearloid block inlays and 22 medium-jumbo frets sits atop the white-bound neck with a thin U-shaped profile, ideal for chord work or fiery riffing.

Iconic Styling

All the classic eye-catching style you've come to expect from Gretsch is here—vintage-style black control knobs, enlarged F-holes for increased acoustic projection, elegant aged white binding with upgraded purfling, slick-looking nickel hardware, three-ply black pickguard and arched laminated maple construction. The G2655T Streamliner's sonic power is further harnessed and shaped by a traditional control layout and 3-way pickup switching for additional sonic sculpting. A Bigsby-licensed B50 vibrato tailpiece allows for added shimmer and expression, while the anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge and synthetic bone nut grant astounding tuning stability and accurate, slip-free intonation.

I LOVE this guitar

I have chronic back pain, and been playing in a jazz combo for about 10 weeks. To reduce impact on my back i decided to sw'itch tIo a lighter guitar than the Ibanez AF105 archtop hollow body I was using (which sounds great) . This guitar is much more comfortable for me to play, is several pounds lighter, but still delivers a great sound. The action is very easy without buzzing, the neck is thin enough for me to get my entire hand around, which is awesome since I don't have big hands, making the F shape a happy place. And stays in tune..very happy! Only change I made was to have flatwound strings put on, and and that made a huge difference from how it sounded on the wall. Really warmed it up.

I do not recommend

I got this guitar about 4 months ago. After the first 2 weeks, i was already having problems with the bridge. The arm does not stay on, and i would have to re tune every 5 minutes. With the electronics, the bridge pickup does not work unless you force the volume knob all the way up. It cuts out as well. The quality of the wood and materials used are good, however i would expect it to function.

Guitar has a really nice feel and sound for the price. The only downfall for me is that the volume and tone knobs didn't have much for a gradual roll off. But for the price, you would expect that. After making some adjustments to the pickup height, it sounds really good.

Looks good, set up was good. Master volume knob was off-center causing inconsistent resistance when turning knob. Pick ups are very weak. Bottom of the line Epiphone pick ups blows them away. Instead buy an Epiphone Wildkat.

Finish is as pictured-no surprises. A beautiful instrument, super fun to play, despite some online reviews, the G2655T has 90% of the Gretsch sound. Above all, I had the the guitar mailed via UPS and I was concerned about damage in shipping. No such worries. The package was packed as if it was full of eggs - and none broke. The guitar was locked in tight, padded, you name it. Super impressed. I almost kept the package and threw out the guitar - just kidding - but never-the-less, the packaging was a thing of beauty.

About the pickups. What's the difference between those on the 2655T and the 2657T models? Thanks.

    Open Reply - Thomas
    The 2665T has Broad'Tron BT-2S pups. The 2657 lists Broad'Tron BT-2S. I don't know what differences are.
