Gretsch Guitars

Description

The Gretsch G2655 Streamliner Center Block Jr. Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar provides high-gain-friendly performance, easy playability and spectacular style. This sleek music machine from Gretsch cranks out full, articulate tones with updated features while staying true to the brand's signature sound that has been integral to rock music since its beginning. The Midnight Sapphire finish gives this guitar a mysterious yet alluring appearance.

Powerful Broad'Tron Humbuckers

The secret behind the Streamliner's tone lies in its dual Broad'Tron BT-2S humbucking pickups and chambered mahogany center block. Tailored for the Streamliner series, the high-output Broad'Tron pickups produce enhanced definition with tight lows, clear highs and a throaty midrange.

Mahogany Center Block

A lightweight mahogany center block spans the length of the body, strengthening the top while preventing undesirable feedback for volume-friendly performance in live settings.

Traditional Control Layout

The Streamliner's robust tone is shaped by its classic control layout—individual neck and bridge pickup volume knobs, a master tone knob, a master volume knob and three-way pickup switching.

Fast-Playing Laurel Fingerboard

A speedy 12" radius laurel fingerboard hosts elegant pearloid Big Block position markers and 22 medium jumbo frets. It sits atop the white-bound nato neck, which has a thin U-shaped profile ideal for chordal work or fiery soloing. Rock-solid tuning stability comes from the stylish Gretsch V-Stoptail tailpiece, Adjust-O-Matic bridge and synthetic bone nut.

Iconic Gretsch Style

This guitar has all the classic eye-catching style you expect from Gretsch— vintage-style black control knobs, enlarged f-holes for acoustic resonance, elegant aged white binding with upgraded purfling, slick nickel hardware, a three-ply tortoise pickguard and an arched laminated maple body. Despite its smaller size, the G2655 provides phenomenal performance for the modern musician wanting to command the stage while standing out from the crowd.

This guitar is terrific. I just bought a PRS Vela S2 SH for 3X the money and it left me completely flat so I picked this up as an "after thought" and just love everything about it. Plays like butter and I love the broadtron pups. My only gripe is GC setup lame - had to do it myself.

  • Gretsch nailed it!! Very impressed!!

Although this one is my first semi-hollow body, it met and exceeded my expectations. I didn't really have anything else to compare it to, except for an ES-335 I had played previously that and an Epiphone of the same configuration. I wasn't really interested in the bigsby version, simply because I had heard there can be issues with the roller bar, and normally would be replaced with a Schaller replacement roller. Nevertheless, I went with the V-stop tailpiece, and I haven't been disappointed at all. Gretsch, seemed to have taken this model to the next level. It has all of the classic aesthetics, with modern features and functionality. The Laurel fretboard material is surprisingly smooth, and since I have no other guitars with Laurel fretboard, I was a bit skeptical about how it would feel, and respond to my style of playing. Well, once I started playing it, after a few tweaks, I was sick about it, in a good way(obviously) and was ecstatic about how well they built this guitar even though it came out of Indonesia. The bottom line is this guitar is exceptional and at the price I paid, this was to good to be true. For years, I have played heavier guitars, mostly LP Style guitars, and I can tell you that with this one, my back issues dissipated, and the dread of back pain after playing for hours at a time was very welcoming to say the least. If you're looking for that vintage sound or tone that this guitar delivers, there's no question about it, it delivers, and if you are new to the semi-hollow body world of guitars, this may be the one for you.
