Good Value

Bought on clearance sale so was a good bargain for a Gretsch. Great frets and playability, super low action and zero fret buzz right out of the box. Lightweight, easy on the shoulder. 3-layer body binding. However the tremolo arm is ridiculously high off the body. I took the spring off and put it in a vice overnight completely compressed and it didn't even help. Missing a control knob insert, about which I contacted GC two days ago but haven't heard from yet.
I love it

I'm still pretty new to electric guitars but I love the way this thing plays. The p90s are super clear and they make this guitar incredibly versatile. I'm really happy with my decision.
I would buy another Gretsch guitar

It's taking a little getting used to the control setup with separate volumes for each p/u and just a master tone switch. Also, the pot for the p/u volume drops off before reaching end of travel and comes back fast with little gradation in volume at first. The fit and finish is exceptional for this price point and the grain is beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised when I unpacked it, which was packed very well, BTW. I had a D-28 for many years but had to sell it due to numbness in my hands, but have since decided to try electric, as I miss playing. I play for my own enjoyment and am really enjoying learning on three guitars recently bought. I also bought a G&L ASAT Classic Tele and G&L Strat, both from Deal of the Day, and they are also great guitars!
Not a clone

The pickups on this model aren't like anything else in the store -- a unique tone, not a clone tone. So that's a huge plus, but also very important: playability. The action is super low, equal to guitars I own that cost 3 times the price. Good job, Gretsch!
