Gretsch Guitars

Description

The Gretsch G2622 Streamliner Center Block Double-Cut with V-Stoptail electric guitar bursts into the modern music era with powerful sound and style. Brash and feedback-resistant, the sleek G2622 hollow body is designed for the guitarist who demands more than the mundane from an instrument—more performance, more style, and most importantly, more volume—while retaining all you expect from Gretsch. The secret to the Streamliner's sound is twofold: the Broad'TronTM BT-2S humbucking pickup and the spruce center block. Designed specifically for the Streamliner collection, the high-output Broad'Tron pickup delivers improved definition with tighter bass response for robust lows, pristine highs, and a throaty midrange. A lightweight spruce center block runs the length of the body, reinforcing the top while eliminating undesired feedback.

Traditional Control Layout with Modern Versatility

The G2622 Streamliner's sonic power is harnessed and shaped by a traditional control layout and 3-way pickup switching. Volume 1 controls the neck pickup, Volume 2 controls the bridge pickup, and the master volume and tone knobs provide overall output and brightness adjustment. Toggle between the Broad'Tron neck pickup for a warm, rounded tone, the bridge pickup for articulate highs and tight lows, or combine both for a blend of vintage and modern Gretsch sounds.

Fast-Playing Neck and Rock-Solid Hardware

A fast-playing laurel fingerboard with elegant pearloid Big Block inlays and 22 medium-jumbo frets sits atop the white-bound neck with a thin "U"-shaped profile, while a stylish Gretsch V-Stoptail, anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge, and synthetic bone nut deliver rock-solid stability.

Iconic Gretsch Style

All the classic eye-catching style you've come to expect from Gretsch is here—vintage-style black control knobs, enlarged F-holes for increased acoustic projection, elegant aged white binding with upgraded purfling, slick-looking nickel hardware, three-ply tortoise pickguard, and arched laminated maple construction.

A Bold New Classic

Nearly impossible to put down once you pick it up and start playing, the G2622 Streamliner Center Block Double-Cut with V-Stoptail has the updated sound and classic style that has earned Gretsch accolades since the dawn of rock 'n' roll.

Amazing Fit & Finish

I was specifically looking for a budget electric for a Berklee class and settled on the 2622 after reading lots of reviews in the sub $500 range. Being an acoustic fingerstyle player, I haven't picked up an electric in a few decades and, honestly , I wasn't expecting a lot. However, this Gretsch defies all expectations for its price-point. The finish is flawless, the frets are well-dressed and the set-up is quite acceptable out of the box. While Gretsch purists might sniff a bit at the BT pickups, they do a nice job - some what reminiscent of PAFs. The only criticism I have to offer is that the individual volume pots for the pickups has a pretty sensitive taper; it doesn't take much to mute the pickup at lower amp settings. Interestingly, the master volume's taper is what one would expect. Overall, I'm very pleased. The fit and finish of the Streamliner seems to be on par with the USA made fenders I owned in the past.

Having fun with this one

I only have one other hollow body, the PRS Piezo. This one was about 1/3 of the price but is a fun guitar. Very light, lighter than I was expecting. Neck is comfortable, action came very low. Was not in original box and did not come with the wrench for the truss rod. Guitar had clearly been used / played. So paid for new but GC sent used, which was weird. Might have been floor model I suppose. Either way, I'm enjoying the guitar.

I own a G5222 and now an Electromatic 2022 bass. The streamliner is the gem of these 3. Dunno if I lucked out and scored a good one or if all Gretsch is this quality, the Electromatics are great too but going to price point, the streamliner takes the prize. All my friends who play are drawn to it, and invariably play it, and only it.

Although the guitar is OK, if you ever need replacement parts, beware. I was told by Fender that they do not support or provide parts for their "Specialty Brands".
