This guitar is exactly what I was hoping for as an intermediate player. Great right out of the box, though I did lower the P90 a touch. I play a lot of different styles from clean, chorus and reverb-laden The Cure-like music—all the way to fat, fuzz pedal alternative noise. This beauty can handle it all. The P90 rocks full and thick, the Broad'Tron humbucker chimes and sparkles. And talk about beauty! I got the Havana Burst finish and I'm in love. Looks just like the photo, with slightly different grain (each guitar will be unique). The fretboard is smooth, the frets are polished. Everything sings Gretsch quality. Zero noise unless I'm using the P90, and then only a mild single coil hum at high gain, which is to be expected. Full disclosure: I'm playing through a Positive Grid Spark Amp—mostly with headphones (Grado Labs SR 80). More than a budget guitar. This is a keeper!

It will need work
I hope this is eventually a great guitar, but needs some work to make it right. Volume control is useless, it's an on-off switch, replacing both pots with quality units and orange drop caps for more warmth. Though Fender owns Gretsch, this is not a Fender neck, very U-shaped. Intonation is severely off, all barre chords very sharp up the neck, hopefully a minor fix. The Good? The P90 is super warm with nice sag through a tube amp, and the Gretsch Broadtron Humbucker is pretty nice as well. The mint green color with the mahogany back is very beautiful. She's a bit like a pretty girl who trips on her own feet right now. A good setup and some better parts should be transformational, a quality P90 sound is worth a little extra effort.

Okay, tell me you're an amateur w/o saying it? Love all the comments about changing parts on basic guitars to make them "good enough to play". Pfft. I use the Streamliner for Jazz/Blues/ Country. Replaced the 9's with 10-52 Ernie Balls. I put a 1/4 turn in the truss rod & it snapped right into place. Great guitar.
Good guitar extremely dirty

I really like the guitar but when i got it, it was DISGUSTING. The broadtron pickup and the bridge are coated in gunk and buildup. I was told it was a display model in Brand new condition, but it absolutely was not even close to "brand new." I would not buy a display model again.
Not a great example

Playing for 61 years in a bedroom. Fretwork was excellent after a bit of polishing. Nut as usual was cut a bit too high. Bridge was okay although I did replace it with an upgrade. Tuners could be better but do what they're supposed to do. Neck pickup sounds good but not fabulous. I had to replace the foam underneath to raise it to proper level. Humbucker had bent ear preventing pickup from sitting level. It sounds okay but is being replaced with better. Pots weren't cutting it and got replaced right away. Switch and output jack fine for now. Overall finish was not very good. Numerous dark bits of ?? Neck sanding dust weren't wiped away prior to clearcoat. One spot on body obviously touched up after repair. Overall a decent value.

What a great guitar. Worth every penny and more. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a great priced guitar that is a beginner or novice player. I would put this up against some of my more expensive guitars as far as quality . Keep up the good work I'll definitely be buying from you again.

How much does this guitar weigh?
All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 12 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 7 – 8.5 lbs.submitted4 years ago

Is there any way to know how "blemished" this guitar is? Or if it was returned because there was something wrong with it? I really want one and would pull the trigger but if it's blemished badly or has neck issues or something, I can't afford to take on a guitar with issues…
Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what the blemish is. However, it would only be a minor cosmetic flaw and would not effect the guitars play ability.submitted4 years ago
