I have owned this kit for about a year and a half. The finishes are beautiful, but very fragile. I recommend this kit for studio use or as a fixed piece for use in a church or Auditorium. I definetly do not recommend this kit for heavy gigging. I will say that these drums project better than any kit I have seen in this price range. The bearing edges are pretty cleanly cut and the hoops and lugs are sturdy. The bass drum would be better suited if it included a rubber pad to affix a pedal to the hoop. I do recommend changing the batter heads on all the drums. Stock batters are weak at best on this kit. I have played Evans Hydraullic, Clear and Coated EC-2's and Remo PinStripes on these drums. The EC-2's seem to bring out that classic Gretsch tone in these drums. The Kick drum sounds fantastic with different head configurations ( I like the Emad). For someone who enjoys taking care of their stuff this is a great kit. For the abusive heavy-hitter types look elsewhere.

This is my first drum set even though I have been playing snare drum for over two years. I love it, especially the extra tom. I asked all the drummers that I knew and my drum teacher (he's also my band directer), who has been playing drums for over thirty years recommended it to me. Sence I have gotten it I have had no major problems; all the drums sound beutiful (after I tuned them), I havent had any problems with the mounted toms or the floor toms and the snare is better than my old on. All the harware is especially sturdy and dosen't wobble. The mounted tom suspension system gives them a perfect ring and the bass drum has held up perfectly. Every person who is thinking about getting a drum set should get this one!!!!

I can not praise this kit enough. It is wonderful and a perfect example of that gretsch sound. The tom mount does rattle a bit if not put together properly but I took care of that while tuning. This is a wonderful well rounded kit. I can not praise the 14x14 floor tom either. I was not so sure how I would like it when i first set it up but now it has grown into most of my fills. This is a great set that can compete with most high end kits if tuned properly with the right heads. Gretsch is defiantly the only company I will be getting my drums from , from now on
This kit ROCKS!!!!!

After 20+ years of another major brand, I came out of retirement to play with my kid & a freinds kid for fun.I bought this kit and the "metal-head" of old re-emerged with a vengence. This kit gives me an awsome range of tone and lets me add radical high-end rolls & with an Evans EMAD bass head & Pearl Eliminater d-peadal,I'll take on guys half my age for sound and speed. What an awsome mid-life crisis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Great kit for all styles.

This is a nice set I love the finish and the extra tom, The snare is ok as a back-up the reason I gave this set 4 stars and not 5 is because of the drum heads. First thing to do when buying this set is get drum heads for a nice deep sound. I did have a issue with the tom ring they aren't that straigt making it hard to tone.
Excellent kit for the $$$.

Bought this kit in February after several months of research and browsing. Maple shells on all, four toms, rich natural finish. I just could not find a better buy. Put on Aquarian Studio-X Coated tops and Evans G1 Clear bottoms. Very warm and resonant, add Evans e-rings, good volume and tone. A month later I let a friend use them at a show, beautiful center piece on stage. Several other bands were there and everyone was impressed with the look and sound of this kit. Natural finish is excellent, I have the Red Cherry, but if you move it alot I'd invest in cases. The only reason I can't give it a perfect 5 is there are better kits. I just don't think there are better kits in this price range.
