Gretsch Drums
Description
The Gretsch Catalina Club Classic is a four-piece drum set for the active player who needs great tone from a portable kit that sets up and tears down quickly and easily. Featuring mahogany shells with 30-degree bearing edges and a natural interior, this set projects a warm, punchy, classic tone.

The 18 x 14 in. bass drum is easy to handle and has plenty of punch. When combined with the 12-inch tom and 14-inch floor tom, the resulting combination is a drum set with outstanding tone-ready to tackle anything from jazz to fusion, to blues, to rock.

The drums are crowned with chrome 1.6mm triple-flanged hoops for firm rimshots and accents, while a Mini-GTS suspended tom mount helps your 12 x 8 in. mounted tom live up to its tonal potential. They also come equipped with custom Gretsch Remo heads straight out of the box.

Cymbals and hardware not included.

Bought this to use as a "bop" kit based on the recommendation of a friend who plays all kinds of gigs including musical theater. It can be tuned high or low to suit the setlist. He bought his as a almost 20 years ago and never felt the need to "upgrade". It's perfect without muffling!

  • Would buy again

I use the Catalina Club Jazz for practice, jazz gigs and rock gigs Not for metal. I've been wanting one for a long time, glad I finally got it. Plenty of tone. Versatile kit for Jazz, Rock, small venues. Can be mic'ed for larger clubs. Small footprint for smaller venues. Fits in my Corolla, no problem. Excellent kit.

  • Pretty nice gig bag.....

It's actually a very nice gig bag for the money. Well constructed and well padded. Plus, it fits my Yamaha APX 600 perfectly.

I've had so many drummers push me to check out Gretsch, well I am definitely a believer in the renown and USA customs, but the Catalinas are not built well, some of the hardware on this Catalina is super cheap. Gretsch also really pooped the bed on designing a good bass drum riser... You can't fully connect the bass drum to it or else it will hit the hoop, and my pedal almost hits the plate from where I have to adjust it.

  • I thoroughly recommend this kit

This is a great sounding small kit. I bought this as a practice kit. And have been using it for live gigs. The kick is punchy, I did change the floor tom head to an emperor which suited it better. I do use a different snare for live shows
