SM-Weissenborn: Hawaiian-Style Slide Guitar-Solid Mahogany Top-No Style

Description
Since the SM-Weissenborn+ guitar features a unique design, particular care must be taken (correct tunings and string gauges) to ensure you don't have bridge, bracing or neck problems. The strings supplied by Gold Tone are gauged .014, .018, .026w, .034w, .044w, .056w and allow for G (DGDGBD), D (DADF#AD) and similar tunings. E tuning (EBEG#BE) and Dobro G tuning (GBDGBD) or similar tunings are not recommended as the higher tension will most certainly cause damage and void the warranty. Total string tension exerted should be no more than 165 lb. when tuned to standard (A440) pitch. Use any free online string-tension calculator to determine what would be the correct string gauge for your tuning.
The SM-Weissenborn+ comes with a case.

Nice entry level instrument

Had to wait a bit to receive this Weissenborn instrument. I am pleased with both the fit and finish of this slide guitar. The top is solid mahogany and looks great along with the laminate back and sides. The rope binding also looks good. The real question is the playability and it meets my needs. I have owned other slide guitars both round and squarenecks but this is my first Weissenborn style guitar. For a purist it may be ok but for someone at my level of playing it is pretty good. Do understand there are limits on the string tension that can be placed on this instrument, no heavy strings and Open D tuning or Open G (starting with a D) or lower tunings are ok. Gold Tone had a nice informational blurb enclosed with the instrument. Last I checked you can find this information on their website. Why four stars? Depends on who you are and what you are looking for in the instrument. The tuners are ok but nothing special. The setup appears to be fine, but after a while I may want to have it looked over. Overall, it sounds great and I really like it.
