Basic fit and function with quality materials and workmanship as expected from Gibson. This is a "no frills" model.

Hands down the best guitar I've ever played. I picked this up at the store and I couldn't leave without it! The neck is like butter and it plays like an absolute dream. It's a no frills guitar for sure, but it feels and sounds much more expensive than it is. It's pretty hard to sound bad playing one of these!

I play in a rock band that does 3 to 4 gigs a month. I picked this up to replace a Starfire I had been playing. It is noticeably lighter than the Starfire and the tone fits our hard rock style a little better. Its got a crisp clear sound, especially off the lower bridge pick up. The pots are clean with no static or cracking, the switch is solid and gives good feedback. The satin finish also helps it to standout a little from other high gloss monochromatic finished guitars. Overall playability is great! Feels good in your hands and the neck is amazingly smooth.

Off the rack, there was little to criticize about this instrument. There was very minor fret sprout. Otherwise play was great, the "rounded" neck contour was a refreshing change from the wide-shouldered, flat-backed Epiphone and ESP necks. The action was a little higher than I'd normally prefer and the pickups sounds a little higher output and stronger in the mid-range than I'm used to. I think most SG rock players with like them, but I'm going to swap in some 57's for my taste. In the end, I expect that I'll be playing this guitar for a good, long time.

  • I would buy this product again.

I primarily practice chords and scales on the guitar.
