I've owned a Gibson SG Special for 1 year. I have been playing for 27 years and am totally satisfied. The action, sustain, tone and quality of this guitar is excellent.

uhm....

i know that the tone is good especially for rock .... but there is no difference with the faded one except the finish .thats why it says "pay for the guitar not the paint job" in the faded sg special description.so please buy the other one unless you have alot of extra cash for this.

I can say this without a doutb in my mind this guitar is probably the best guitar i have and will ever own. Its finish is flawless, very pretty, and when shined it looks out of this world. I've only been playing for 3 or 4 years but when ever i play it this thing still feels new and its only 3 years old. It plays well the action is low enough to break out some eddie van halen tapping, and the tone unmatched when compared to a fender or single coil. The pick ups scream in a solo and thunder when playing chords. It handles distortion and effects well and when its clean you can play some nice stairway. I play it so much that he bolts on the pick gaurd are starting to rust which will tell you that i almost never pit it down. All and all it is a sweet instrument and versital. I'd recommend this for any guitar player from beginning to expert. It may be a little expensive but it will be well worth it. BUY one NOW!!!

I bought this guitar about 3 years back, and I've been using it as my main guitar since. When i started playing, I preferred playing Fenders and never even thought to try a Gibson. When I bought this guitar I was very pleased with my purchase and I have been buying Gibson guitars ever since. But this is the guitar I still use as my primary guitar and I'm very impressed with it's durability. Most of my guitars look very worn within the first to years from playing so much, but this one still looks completely new. The sound is great with any amp I've used it with. I even went as far as to recommend it to a friend who was just beginning to learn guitar and they had a very easy time learning with this particular guitar. So, needless to say, it's good for the experienced guitarist as well as a beginner. This guitar opened me up to a whole other variety of guitars and i would recommend this to anyone, even someone who may not necessarily like the Gibson guitar.

Ok, right off the bat, a lot of people say that your paying $300 for a paint job. let me tell you right now. the paint job is beautiful, but if you test one of these out, that raw sg power is gonna blow you away. In comparison to the faded for example, the faded is cheap, it looks worse anyway, and it dosen't have that, rich full satisfying sound that I for one Can't get enough of. And if you don't like the sound, I have one SG with the slash seymour duncan low output pickups. Gibson has a beautiful instrument here, and i would take it over some of those $5000 SG's because I haven't found anything that can match this baby. its really light, perfect for easy transitions, it has great quality craftsminship, and i can't find a con.

i got one of these when i was about 14 like two years ago. it was an 08 model and even though i didn't get the guitar in the prettiest finish available, don't be fooled. it really isn't as bad as some people say. i actually put in gibson p90 pickups in to make it more like a 60s one that pete townshend used at woodstock and it looks and plays way better. if you really don't like the color but this finish is all you can afford, then buy chrome humbucker coverings (which are cheaper than new pickups) and it'll look better. I will admit that a standard sg is much better quality in many ways but i like this version too and it's a nifty little axe that i'd recommend if you wanted a cheaper sg.

Ok, so as a quick disclaimer I do NOT have the EXACT product sold here. I actually have a used 1998 plum (dark purple) colored Gibson SG special. But, it is basically the same thing. Anyway, this guitar is AWESOME. The fret action is fantastic, and I can tackle any riff I want on this thing with ease. There are a wide range of tones available, and this thing can play any genre, easily. It comes out of tune quite easily, though, but that might be just because mine is pretty aged. That being said, it is in fantastic condition, and I plan on having this guitar and enjoying it greatly for many years to come.
