Doug Aldrich Demos The Les Paul Tribute

Doug Aldrich Demos The Les Paul Tribute

Description

Gibson's Les Paul Tribute brings you all the vibe and feel of a traditional Les Paul, in an Ultra Modern weight-relieved mahogany body. The Les Paul Tribute captures the essence of a classic while catering to contemporary players. An easy-to-play rounded profile on a set-in maple neck with rosewood fretboard adds a hint of brightness, and the Alnico II 490 humbuckers deliver loads of power and sustain for those signature Les Paul tones.

Ultra Modern Weight-Relieved Mahogany Body Resonates

The Les Paul Tribute's chambered mahogany body provides enhanced resonance while reducing weight, ideal for long sets and studio sessions. Three sharp-looking soundholes let it breathe as you play, aiding in the rich vibration you can both hear and feel.

Maple and Rosewood Neck Inspires

A smooth maple neck and rosewood fretboard come together for a blend of crispness and warmth that plays fast and sounds full. The slim, rounded profile and medium-jumbo frets make solos and complex chords a breeze.

490 Humbuckers Power Classic Tone

A pair of 490 humbucking pickups with Alnico II magnets deliver vintage PAF tone, power and sustain. A 3-way switch, plus two volume and two tone knobs help you adjust your sound to exactly the way you like it.

Legendary Hardware Anchors

A Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop tailpiece anchor your tone and tuning, while vintage-style tuners keep things locked in. Plek'd frets result in an even, buzz-free feel along the fretboard.

Gibson - Tone Quality -with Satin feel to your hand. Nice!

Finally went for a Gibson, I deliberately went for the satin finish model even though for nearly the same price I could have got a gloss finish Studio w/tapped coils. I passed on cheaper satin version of this model because it did not have the Trapezoid inlays which cheapen the guitar appearance IMO. For me it's satin finish just felt better than the Studio gloss finish and I wrestled between the two but could not escape the feel of the satin neck of this guitar. When I received it, the action was low and the intonation perfect but I was able to lower the action a bit more. The gig bag is top end and offers ample protection. I really like the fact that this model weights several pounds less than the older models, at my age it really makes playing for long periods easier. On the negative side I suspect the satin finish results in a softer surface, I barely touched something and it resulted in a tiny nick on guitar, so stay clear of potential denting objects. I'm not an advance player so when I say I prefer my Fender Stratocaster it is primary because of its butter like ease of play. If at times you want that Gibson sound – well you got to have a Gibson. If you desire a Les Paul in your collection it's nice if it's a Gibson and this guitar was a good fit for me.

Poor Gibson quality control and workmanship

I'm really disappointed with the condition of the guitar's neck and fretboard, quality control, and workmanship at Gibson. I wouldn't be so upset about it if it weren't for the fact that this is my second guitar of the exact same model and color that has a problem. There is a noticeable rough "ledge" and gouge marks along the length of the neck where the fretboard is attached to the neck. It runs from the neck pocket to the nut on both sides. The sides of the rosewood fretboard and nut are gouged, in fact, I can see and feel how rough the neck is when I play. It really is unplayable. I thought I was going to get splinters from how torn up it is. The fret ends, side dots, and the edge of the fretboard all have gouge marks along its length. It's almost like someone tried to clean up fret sprout but ended up digging into the side of the fretboard tearing up the neck. I don't know what's going on at the Gibson factory that two guitars with so much factory damage made it out to a consumer. I thought the damage to the first guitar I bought was a fluke. Receiving a second replacement guitar with the same damage is unacceptable.

This instrument is fully solid. Zero QC issues. The satin finish on exposed grain is sublime.. Excellent setup, intonation and feel. Loud acoustic ring. Incredible value for Gibson tradition.

Love the guitar. Shipped fast , setup out of the box Is decent. Only issue is a bit of fret sprout. Had to knock off a couple of stars for the fret sprout Guitar center should have noticed the sharp ends before shipping.

I've had my eye on this model for a while. Finally decided to pull the trigger for my 40th birthday present to myself. The guitar is beautiful, plays exactly how'd you'd expect a Gibson Les Paul to play and is setup so nice out of the box that is plays like a breeze. It also comes with a very nice gig bag. So nice, I don't feel the need for a hardshell case upgrade at this point. It had a little issue with the pickup switch that looks like it may have been damaged somehow at the warehouse, but I reached out to Guitar Center and expect them to make it right. Otherwise, I can't recommend this guitar enough for the money!

I own a Tribute Honeyburst...great tone , great craftmanship for the money, My question is ...trouble staying in tune. I had a setup done on it. Even after putting new strings on....it does not want to stay in tune very well. I have to tune up after every song , and can tell during a song that its not all there. Any suggestions????? its frustrating because I don't end up taking this guitar out for gigs, because its not reliable......?????? Thanks Gary
