Gibson LPJ Pro Electric Guitar Cherry Mahogany Top

Description
LPJ Pro has a mahogany body. A neck made from hard-wearing maple is glued into the body, and carved to Gibson's popular rounded '50s profile that measures .818 at the 1st fret and .963 at the 12th. It is topped with a genuine rosewood fingerboard that carries 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional trapezoid inlays. There' no pickguard or fingerboard binding to clutter the straight-on, stripped-down look of the LPJ, while quality touches continue with a PLEK-cut nut made from black Corian to subtly echo the black speed knobs and black pickup rings and covers. The traditional back-angled headstock is silkscreened with a gold Gibson logo that stands out clear and proud.
A pair of Gibson' 490R-NECK and 490T-Bridge pickups with coil-tapping fire up the LPJ Pro through your amp of choice. An independent volume and tone control with push/pull coil-tapping per pickup, plus a three-way toggle selector switch allows a broad range of sonic variations, while Gibson USA' legendary tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece ensure solid sustain and outstanding intonation. A set of vintage-style tuners provides an impressive 16:1 gear ratio for precise and efficient tuning. Put it all together, and the LPJ Pro is the fastest road to a genuine Les Paul, sparing none of the tone, while putting the legend in your hands with far less load on your wallet.
Each guitar includes a black Gibson gig bag, owner' manual, and truss rod wrench.

Sweetness!!!!!!
I got the Desert burst with the maple top for a little brighter tone since I play modern country. Was going to get the LPJ until I saw the pro model in the store. The extra money is way well worth it. I was impressed with the LPJ but with the PRO I have been blown away. True Gibson quality and the dual 490 pickups sound much better to me than the 490/498. The coil taps are sweet as well giving you that versatility from that classic rockin tone to chickin picken. I have my LPJ pro going through a wampler ego and a wampler paisley drive and this guitar is simply blissful. Every bit as good as the higher price les pauls if you dont need all the bling such as the bindings and gloss finish. I love the satin finish better myself!!!! Very happy guy here!!!!

A bit Disappointed.
I went to GC to buy a Gibson LPJ today. And sorry to say I was very disappointed with it. I can't see why people brag about it. The body or the neck are not all solid wood. Everyone I've tried in different GC have the same issues. Yes, it's a good price for a stripped down Gibson LP. I suggest you go to a GC before you order one and examine it first. The fret ends are way too sharp like they weren't filed down at all. And this was unexpected, but oddly, the necks are wider than the fret board. Not flush with the fret board. There was a little lip on each side of the neck as if it was made for room for binding that isn't there. It just didn't feel right. Other than that, It sounds was great. I couldn't get past the neck issues since my hand will be there all the time. You might want to look at the Epiphone Standard Tribute which has true Gibson USA 57 Pickups in it, all solid wood, bound and flawless with case for $50 less. It's a Gibson with the Epi name.

Awesome LP - looked for a LP Traditional and just couldn't justify the price over the LPJ. The tone is amazing and it has that understated plain look I like. The best value for a Les Paul I have seen ever.
WOW! Great at any price!

I have a lot of Stratocasters, but lately I've been wanting a Les Paul for that classic sound. I played most of the Gibson and Epiphone guitars in the store, and for my price range narrowed it down to the LPJ Pro and the Epiphone Limited Les Paul Pro. After playing both several times, I went for the Gibson and have been thrilled! The action is low and fast and it was about the first guitar I have ever bought that was properly set up for me out of the store. I also really love the natural look of the Chocolate Mahogany; to me it looks better than a lot of the fancier Les Pauls. But the tone is what really amazed me.. with the coil taps on the humbuckers, you can get nearly any sound out of it easily and the set neck gives really good sustain. The weight is not bad at all even for extended playing; it feels perfect! Overall an AMAZING guitar at any price!

This LPJ-Pro has better sound quality workmanship you'd get from any other axe at this price!!! Superb quality and workmanship. The finish is beautiful with the mahogany top. The pearl inlay, vintage tuners and chrome humbucker covers really set it off. It was delivered promptly and in immaculate shape. They did a nice job setting it up. It was strung and the action and intonation set as well. Thanks Gibson and Thanks Guitar Center... Best I've ever owned. I love her!!! Fred Zeppelin

I spent a couple of hours at GC trying out various Epiphones and PRS models in the 800 and below range as I needed a good backup guitar. After trying multiple models out, I was about to give up when I stumbled across the Gibson LPJR Pro. I was shocked at the price and even though it didn't have the greatest finish I gave it a go. All I can say is it blew away all the other budget guitars I tried and quite frankly held its own with my American deluxe strat. There was no comparison between the higher end Epiphones I tried out and the LPJR. To be fair they did not have the Epiphone Ultra Pro in stock which supposedly has real Gibson pickups so I couldn't try that out. However the Ephiphones I did try out which where the $550 models where ok but nothing like the Gibson. The Gibson has a great neck, the pickups sound awesome, and the guitar is just built like a tank. I will never buy non-American made guitars again. Every U.S. made guitar I have played or owned is dang near perfection. Pros Great price Excellent quality Feels great Sounds great Coil taps Cons Finish is very plain... Only comes with a gig bag instead of a hard shell case
A true Blessing!

I've now had my amazing LPJ for about 9 months, so it's practically my baby lol! This guitar has to be Gibson's best kept secret because if more people really knew how amazing it sounds and plays, they would probably bump up the price on these significantly! Both hum-buckers sound amazing with that true-classic Les-Paul tone that has helped create legends such as Jimmy Page and Slash. Don't let the price on this baby fool you... It will shock you beyond belief!
