Gibson

Description

This Guitar Center-exclusive Gibson J-45 Studio acoustic-electric guitar nails that classic vibe with smooth modern playability and punchy tone that’s ready for any stage or session. A gloss ebony Sitka spruce top gives this dreadnought a sleek, stage-ready look, while satin-finished mahogany back, sides and neck add warmth to every note. Rosewood on the fingerboard and bridge ensures smooth action and lasting durability, matched with a short 24-3/4" scale that makes both fretting and strumming easy. With a built-in LR Baggs Element Bronze pickup, you can transition from unplugged sessions to plugged-in gigs without missing a beat. The included hardshell case protects your investment wherever you go, making this model a strong choice for players who need a reliable acoustic-electric that stands out both visually and sonically.

Ebony Sitka Spruce Top Enhances Projection

The gloss ebony Sitka spruce top is engineered for strong volume and tonal clarity. Spruce responds quickly to picking dynamics, producing a crisp, detailed sound that carries well in both solo and band settings. The ebony finish not only looks sharp on stage, it also protects the top from scratches. This combination gives the guitar a bold voice and a distinctive appearance that commands attention in any performance space.

Mahogany Back and Sides Shape Warm, Balanced Tone

Mahogany back and sides create a foundation for rich, focused lows and smooth mids. The satin finish feels comfortable in hand and allows the wood to breathe, contributing to a more open sound. This tonewood pairing makes the instrument easy to record or mic, with strong response to both fingerstyle and full strums. The belly-up rosewood bridge and bone nut add sustain and keep intonation stable during extended play.

LR Baggs Element Bronze Pickup System Supports Live Performance

The built-in LR Baggs Element Bronze under-saddle pickup captures the natural voice of the guitar with clarity and depth. The onboard controls make it easy to adjust volume and tone for different rooms or recording setups. Grover Rotomatic tuners hold pitch steady, and the tortoise teardrop pickguard protects the top while adding a classic look. Plugged in, the system delivers a consistent, reliable signal every time.

Durable Materials and Protective Hardshell Case

The utile neck, nickel hardware and carefully selected woods support years of regular use. Bone nut and saddle resist wear and help maintain tuning. The hardshell case included with this model shields the instrument from impact, humidity and temperature swings, making travel safe and setup quick. Each detail serves to extend the life of the guitar and preserve its tone.

Player Experience With the J-45 Studio Guitar Center Exclusive

Musicians who want a bold look, strong sound and reliable electronics will find this acoustic-electric easy to use and maintain. With its short scale, comfortable neck and stable tuning, it suits players who value quick response and smooth action. The combination of woods, finish and hardware lets you focus on your music, knowing the instrument will keep up in any setting.

  • Great Playing J45 Now my new Gig Guitar

I was not expecting this J45 to catch my attention when I first picked it up at GC but it blew me away. It is now my performance guitar. It isnt as dark as some of the other J45's I have played and its neck feels slimer similar to a Gibson Southern Jumbo neck. The only change I would make as Guitar Center to this model is to have Gibson install the Element VTC or HiFi Duet pickup from the factory instead of the Element Bronze. Other than that this is a winner. Go play one at your local GC.

I have to say I didn't think I would like it as much as I do as I have had other J-45's but man this might be the easiest playing guitar I have ever owned. If I had to knock on something it would be that the case doesn't have that iconic Gibson smell.

  • Closest Studio Yet to a Standard

Played one is a store today. I was impressed with the tone for being in the Studio line. The mahogany makes a difference. Definitely a contender for something closer to the 45 Standard at a lower price. Not the fanciest on the block, but the black finish had a cool minimalist look.
